Yonghwa was finally able to leave around midnight, rushing out of the venue with her flowers and award in hand and her phone pressed to her ear as she called Minho.
"Yonghwa, I am so sorry. Did I miss it?" he finally answered
"Min, are you alright?" she asked concerned
"Yes, I'm so so sorry, I lost track of time. Has your category already been called?"
"Well yeah... the event already finished. But is everything alright?"
"Shit I'm sorry" he rubbed his forehead feeling extremely guilty "Serin woke up and started freaking out and the paramedics asked me to stay because she started clinging to me and-"
"Serin?"
"The girl from the subway"
"Oh"
"Her name is Jo Serin, I'm still at the hospital with her"
"Oh, hm, I see" Yonghwa swallowed hard "Is she okay?"
"Yeah, she's fine. I'm so sorry I missed the event but I felt bad leaving her alone, she was so scared" the regret was clear in his voice
"No, I understand" she tried to sound okay "She was hurt so..."
"Did you win the award?"
"Yeah"
"Really?" he asked excited
"Yeah, I did"
"Congratulations! That's awesome!" his smile could be heard through the phone
"Thank you" she felt a tug in her heart
"Were you able to give a speech?"
"I think so. Honestly, I was so nervous I kind of blacked out but my boss said it was fine" she chuckled faintly
"I'm sure it was great"
"Oh fuck—he still has my earring" she remembered
"Your earring?"
"Yeah, he took it off because he said it looked weird. I gotta find him to get it back"
"Oh, hm, okay. Are you leaving the event now?"
"Yeah, will you be going home soon?" she looked around for her boss
"I'm not sure. Could you maybe join me here at the hospital? Serin wants to meet you"
"Sir!" Yonghwa spotted her boss and called for him "Sir, wait a minute! Min, I'll talk to you in a bit"
"Okay, we're at San General Hospital!" he rushed to say before she hung up
Yonghwa chased after her boss and got her earring back from him. He was in a good mood so he offered her a ride home as well, which she gladly accepted, but instructed him to drop her off at the hospital.
After thanking him for the ride, she hopped out of the car and entered the reception, signing in as a visitor and getting instructed on where to go. As she approached the bay she could recognize the sound of Minho's laughter.
She pulled on the curtain a bit and peeked inside, seeing him sitting on a chair next to the girl, smiling widely as she talked to him and giggled cutely. She somehow still looked beautiful despite wearing a hospital gown and having bandages on her head.
A little cold feeling in Yonghwa's stomach had her hesitating to step forward and make herself noticeable, but as she was starting to back up to walk away, the movement of the curtain caught Minho's eyes.
"Yonghwa, you're here" he smiled
"H-hi," she said quietly and stepped inside
"Serin, this is my friend Yonghwa I told you about" he looked at the girl with a bright smile
