"Man! JJ is the best!"
Leo was grinning, looking away from the scrolling credits of the movie. Yuichi was also smiling, his ears still twitching from the adrenalin. The blankets the two had laid out on Yuichi's futon were bunched up and shoved behind them from their excited movements, empty chip bags and juice boxes littered around them, and the pillows were on the floor.
Darkness had blanketed the sky outside, unfurling into the room like a heavy mat, only fended off by the flickering TV and table lamp. It felt hazy, like a memory of times gone by, gentle and nostalgic. The distant bustle of the city was nothing more than faint buzzing in their ears, reminders of their lives long fled from their minds.
Leo's head was starting to hurt in that 'stayed up too late' way, but he didn't want to sleep. He didn't want to waste a moment. So he chugged the last few ounces of his soda, hoping the caffeine would hold him over. Yuichi's hand found his.
"What should we watch next?" He asked, tilting his head just so, tugging at Leo's heartstrings. His ears were freed from their usual top-knot, Yuichi having slipped into some comfy clothes. He looked so warm and soft.
"Is that all of them?" Leo asked, subtly scooting closer to Yuichi. Yuichi did the same.
"All that's left is the romcom spin-off," He said, tugging Leo closer to him. The turtle happily cuddled into the rabbit's side, absorbing all the warmth he could from his boyfriend, sharing a quick kiss with him. Yuichi chuckled and pulled a blanket over them, settling down to cuddle with Leo.
"That one is so bad!" Leo laughed, resting his head on Yuichi's shoulder, "Can we watch a Lou Jitsu movie instead?"
"Sure," Yuichi hummed, nuzzling Leo's head. He lazily lifted the remote and changed the movie, adjusting so he comfortably lay back on the sofa with Leo.
The iconic theme of Lou Jitsu movies floated through the speakers, the overproduced intro to his Father's most famous movie playing out exactly how he memorized it. Leo pressed ever closer to Yuichi, feeling his eyes struggle to stay open, fighting to stay awake. Something pricked at the back of his mind, something he was forgetting. He didn't worry about too much though, as Yuichi pressed a kiss to his forehead, anything besides warmth and comfort fleeing his mind.
Why fight? If sleep wanted him, it could have him.
.
Leo was fucked! Leo was so fucked! What had he forgotten? The fact that he had to go home before anyone woke up.
Leo had awoken in the soft and warm arms of his beloved, the first thing his eyes had the glory of perceiving was the sleeping face of Yuichi. His nose twitched when Leo blew on it, making his heart clench. Who told him he could be this cute!? The rabbit stirred when Leo giggled, reactively pulling the turtle into his chest. Leo was all set to go back to sleep when he felt buzzing to his right.
He groaned, blindly slapping the futon. It was his phone, turned out, a silent alarm going off. His 'oh shit' alarm. He almost put it back down, before remembering that he was supposed to be home already.
He leapt from the futon, heart beating fast, gathering all his things as fast as he could. Yuichi was startled awake by Leo's sudden actions, blearily rubbing his eyes as Leo muttered incoherently to himself.
"I'm so, so sorry!" Leo said, tripping over a blanket, "Ow! I-I completely forgot! I needed to be home, like, yesterday!"
"Lee?" Yuichi yawned, making Leo pause, "You gotta go?"
Leo glanced over at Yuichi, his heart skipping a beat. The fur on the side of his face was sticking up every which way, his ears equally as frazzled. Leo watched as he rubbed his eyes and yawned widely. He swooned.
