Carrie's POV
There's a knock at my door. I don't know who I was expecting, but it surely wasn't Nick.
"Nick?"
"Hey Care." He leans in and kisses my cheek. I back away, my brows furrowed in confusion. "Woah, is something wrong?"
"You broke up with me." I remind him. As heartbroken as I was at first, it's probably for the best, right? I don't think I was ever that into him, just the idea of him.
"What are you talking about?" He laughs.
"After the school dance. You broke up with me." I say.
"Carrie, is this one of your boyfriend tests?"
Does he really not remember?
I remember Julie telling me and Flynn that creepo ghost man was possessing Nick, maybe it messed with his memories? Either way, I can't do this with Nick again.
"Nick, I'm very sorry, but I'm breaking up with you." I say.
"What!? Carrie, why? What did I do? I am so sorry."
"You didn't do anything. It's me. I need some time to work on myself, I'm sorry. It's just better we go our separate ways." I try and explain without sounding cliche.
"Oh..." he says, looking down at his shoes. "Fine. I guess I'll see you around at school then. Goodbye, Carrie." He says, voice numb. I didn't want to break his heart, but I couldn't let this go on. He broke up with me, it would be wrong of me to keep a relationship going just because he didn't remember ending it.
Reggie's POV
I leave the studio to look for Rain. I don't really know where to look other than Caleb's club, so fingers crossed I don't run into the wrong Covington.
It's so weird she's Caleb's daughter. I mean, she seems so nice, and he's, well he's scary. He is what Tia would call a demon, and I second that. No be on will mess with your blinds, but a demon sure will steal your soul and hurt all your friends.
I appear in the main lobby and Caleb's jazz band was performing . The feathered dances were moving gracefully to the music and the crowd was smiling and dancing along. Do they even know the horrors of this place?
Suddenly someone tugs my arms and pulls me around the corner. My heart drops. For a moment I think I'm busted, but then I see it's Rain.
"Oh, hey! I was actually just looking for you!" I smile.
"What are you doing here!?" She loudly whispers. "I told you not to come back here."
"I was looking for you." I say. "Although, I don't remember what I'm supposed to ask you..." I rack my brain trying to think of it but I have the song that Caleb's band was just playing stuck in my head. Curse his jazzy and catchy tunes. They're evil.
She sighs, grabs my wrist, and swooshes us to the beach.
"You better remember your question fast, I can't be away for long." She says. "Is everything okay?"
Right! The instruments! I remember.
"Sorta. We found out Caleb stamped our instruments, if we okay them, we will get struck my those jolts."
"So don't play your instruments. Problem solved." She smiles at me.
"Yeah but like, our band is our life."
"You guys don't have a life."
"Exactly! But playing music makes us feel alive. Playing with Julie makes us feel alive. It's so important to all of us! It's like breathing! You take our instruments away and you take breathing away! And that's just cruel and unusual punishment which for the record is illegal, I may suck at math but I passed AP Gov so that probably means something, and even though we are ghost I'm sure I can find a ghost cop and you will go to ghost jail."
