AUTHORS NOTE

Hey guys so this is my second attempt at publishing this story because after reaching 500 reads the story was accidentally deleted. Hopefully the story is just as good and I hope it is just as successful. I hope you all enjoy this. :) <3

PIPER POV

"Polly I really need your help. I have to get this job!" I said frantically to my best friend Polly. I've been staying with her since I graduated college not too long ago and I feel that it is time that I finally find myself on my own.

"Piper I need you to relax, just take this resume I made for you and start asking around, it isn't that hard to find a job in New York," Polly said in annoyance. " I don't know what's the rush, I told you that you are more than welcome to stay as long as you need to Piper. You can really take your time on this, I enjoy your company," She continued as she handed me the resume. But regardless of what she said, I hated relying on people for too long, it made me feel vulnerable and incapable of taking care of myself. I really need to break out and take control of my own life and I was determined to do so as quickly as possible.

"I know Polly, I just don't want you to worry about me, I can handle my self," I said as I pulled her in for a hug, I knew we have been through almost everything together and I knew that I could count on her for anything, it was just time that I had my own adventure. That I became my own person again. "I'll see you later, okay?" I reassured her as I walked out the door to look for a simple job like a waitress. It should be hard because like Polly said, "It isn't hard to find a job in New York, you just have to know where to look."

After asking around a while I finally decided to end my mission at a bar on 42nd street. I walked in and it was practically empty besides of a group that looked around my age. I looked around until I finally reached the counter waiting for a worker to notice me. Then I heard a comment from a raspy voice.

"Hey you, Laura Ingalls Wilder," she said. That is when I turned her around  and saw this woman sitting there gawking at me but wow was she attractive. Yes I know I'm straight and everything as far as that goes but she was just something. Like her bright green eyes that stared behind her thick secretary glasses and her long black hair with electric blue highlights that interlocked with her big curls. I haven't realized I was staring back at her for a short while but once she actually realized she had my attention, she continued. "We're skipping America before the Apocalypse, wanna come?" She finished confidently. That was then I snapped out of my gaze and I had no clue what she said. So I replied with a confused "I'm sorry?" before a bartender came to save me from my embarrassment.

"How may I help you?" The bartender greeted politely.

"Hello, um I was wondering if you were hiring at the moment? I have a resume here" I said as I tried to hand him the resume.

"Um no we're not, I'm sorry," he replied awkwardly.

"Oh, well can I just leave this in case something opens up?" I asked hopefully, maybe I still had a chance.. I was wrong.

"Um.. It's probably going to end up in a drawer somewhere, so I don't think that would work." He said, by the way he said that I'm sure he wanted to get rid of me before I can ask again. So I asked for a margarita instead. "That I can do for you," he said as he went to make the drink. I checked my phone and it was only 9:07 pm. I have A LOT time to waste. So I got comfortable and played on my phone for a little while when I heard steps coming toward me and stop to my right.

ALEX POV

After my friends pestering me for a while I finally decided to walk up to this beautiful stranger. I knew this confrontation would happen sooner or later but them annoying me about it made it come a lot sooner than expected. After taking a shot I walked over and sat in a seat right next to her and started.

"Hey," I said calmly before she turned around. That's when I got a good look at her. Damn was she hot.
