"And where are you going?" Amberly asked Jenna as she rushed around by the front door.

"Jeremy's parent-teacher conference that I am already running late to. See you in a bit. Bye." Jenna rambled before running out of the house.

"Bye." Amberly said as the door swung shut. "And this is why I am never having kids."

"I would like to call bullshit." May commented from the other room where she was lying on the couch, causing Amberly to jump. "You said you've always wanted kids, you just haven't found the right guy."

"Its the twenty first century, May." Amberly mumbled, strolling into the living room and sitting down on the sofa. "I can easily have a child without some random guy."

"I know that." May argued back, standing up and heading into the kitchen. "You have literally nothing in your cupboards. Do you just live off coffee?"

"Jenna can't cook." Amberly defended.

"Yeah, but you can. You could always help her learn."

"True. Jenna does have a lot of pressure on her, with Elena, Jeremy while trying to keep her own life together." Amberly thought aloud. "I'm kind of just a freeloader, living in their house when I should have left years ago."

"Yeah, but the Gilberts's took you in." May said.

"When I was 13. I'm an adult now, with a life I should be living except I'm spending it with a bunch of teenagers." Amberly threw her head back.

"Hey, I am not a teenager." May complained.

"Whatever. I have work in half an hour so I need to get ready." Amberly muttered as she stood up.

"First of all, my dad is your employer, I will fight him if he fires you or disciplines you even slightly for being late." May said. Amberly looked over at her best friend with a 'bullshit' glare. "Secondly, I thought you had today off. I mean, I had a whole day planned."

"I'm sorry May, one of the girls called out sick, Sammy asked me if I could cover and I really need the money right now." Amberly explained. "The more money I make, the quicker I can get the hell out of this town and make a life for myself."

"Okay. It's fine, don't worry." May said. "I need to get some extra pocket money anyway, I'll come help you."

"You sure?" Amberly asked. The girl had nodded. "We can move the day to later on. I have next week off."

"That sounds good. I wasn't entirely finished planning the day anyway so now I can make sure the day is the best day of your life." May exaggerated, grinning like a mad man.

"I don't know why, but your face tells me I should fear this day as though it's my last." Amberly joked, sarcastically glancing cautiously over at her best friend.

"Oh shut up." May slapped her arm as she walked past. "I'll call my dad now."

"Alright."

"I regret agreeing to this." May complained, throwing her head back and stomping her foot in protest.

"Hey, you didn't have to come." Amberly said as she smiled at a customer.

"Yeah, but you were working today despite the fact you said you wouldn't and I have no one else to spend time with. Ergo, I am here." May explained her situation before going on her phone to check a message.

Just then, a raven-haired man walked into the cafe, striding confidently up to pair stood behind the counter. "Hey." He said.

"What can I get for you?" Amberly asked, not even bothering to look at the man stood in front of her.
