"Fiona Solomon is hereby declared innocent by the law, and Mr. Abaddon Solomon is to spend the rest of his life in jail for attempted murder, child abuse, murder, and many more." The judge hit the gavel with finality, bringing an end to the long and harrowing trial that had captivated the nation. The courtroom erupted in a mix of emotions, from relief to outrage, as justice was served.
However, it still leaves me wondering if justice has truly been served. It all started with Zach Solomon's murder. Then we found the fingerprint of Peter Solomon and evidence of other Solomons indulging in the affairs of the underworld. We arrested multiple family members and got a search warrant to search Peter's house, where we found a video. A video was crucial enough for Fiona to be declared innocent and released. A video I didn't have the position to watch.
Then, soon before anything could be done or investigated, Peter Solomon was jailed for life. The case seemed closed, but a nagging feeling of doubt lingered in my mind. Despite the evidence and convictions, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story that remained hidden. There was more. There had to be more. She said there were more. I saw more. But the evidence wasn't recorded. I had sent my assistant out so I wouldn't have to record her. Wrong move. She must've known. She should've known I would react that way to her words. In her mind, I was nothing more than a puppet. And I was her puppet.
My eyes meet hers as she sits there. Free and innocent. I can see her smirk from the distance. An almost smile tugged at her lips. I knew then that I had underestimated her. She was playing me all along, and now it was too late to turn back. I had fallen right into her trap, and now I was the one left exposed. I realized too late that she was the one pulling the strings all along, and I was just a pawn in her game.
I met her outside of the courtroom. "Hey." I tried to keep my voice steady, but the unease was palpable. She just smirked at me, a glint of satisfaction in her eyes. "You played your part well," she said, her tone cold and calculating. "Honestly, I didn't even fathom you'd play it that well." I could feel a shiver run down my spine as her words sunk in, realizing the depth of her manipulation. I knew then that I had underestimated her, and now I was left to face the consequences of my naivety. "I could have you arrested. On any charges. Charges as I see fit. Charges I choose. Mark my words, Detective. I doubt you don't love your family. So if you do indeed love your family, Stay out of my way. Stop getting involved. Because if you don't, I will make sure they suffer for your mistakes," she threatened, her eyes piercing into mine with a chilling intensity. With a sinking feeling in my stomach, I realized that I was way over my head and dealing with someone far more dangerous than I had anticipated.
This was no ordinary criminal I was up against, but someone with power and influence that could reach far beyond what I had imagined. It was clear that I needed to tread carefully and consider my next move wisely to protect not only myself, but also my loved ones. "I won't," Her smirk widens. And now she longs every bit like her father. The same eyes. The same hair. The same smug expression. She looked every bit like the villain. Her resemblance to her father only added to the sense of unease that I felt in her presence. It was a stark reminder of the dangerous game I had unwittingly become a part of, and I knew that I would need to be extra cautious in navigating this treacherous situation. I continued, "I promise."
She smiles. "You better keep that promise." Her smile sends a chill down my spine, a warning that she is not to be underestimated. I know now that my promise carries weight, not just for myself, but also for the safety of my loved ones. And now I'll go back to being an ignorant detective.
