Chapter 4 - Mike?.. Mike?

Will went to Pennhurst to see Mike. Will had conflicting feelings but helping Mike was the priority. How do I help someone I never seen in ages? That was one of the questions running in Will's head. When Will arrived, he was questioned and had to leave his shoes, belt, and pocket contents to visit Mike. Will wore little disposable booties and went to the room where the staff sent him. Sitting in a white set of institution clothes was an older Mike. Mike had midlength hair that was wavy and had a little grey in it. Mike's eyes were vacant and he just looked at Will.

"Hi Mike, do you remember who I am?" Mike shook his head. "I am Will." Will pointed to himself. "My name is Will Byers." Mike looked at Will blankly. "Who are you?" "I'm Will, Will Byers." Will talked to Mike trying to get him to say anything else. Will has to come up with a new plan to get through to Mike. Will thought about it, but first he needed to find a bike for Trevor.

Will was back at the Wheeler's house. "How did it go today Will?" Karen was worried and hoped Will got through to him. "Not very good. He just stared and didn't say anything much. I tried to get through to him but it didn't work. I need to find another way." Karen felt bad for Will because she can tell he cares. "Please don't give up Will. Mike needs you." Will gave a tired smile to Karen "I wouldn't think of giving up Karen." Karen touched his shoulder.

Will spent the next 2 weeks trying to get ahold of Mike. Will used stories, drawings of their D&D characters, and other things to get him out of his shell. Will became frustrated and in a moment, he grabbed Mike's hand and laid it on his chest over his heart. "I'm here Mike. I'm Will and I will be here." Mike's dark brown hooded eyes dilated and then fixed on Will. "Whhh..Wihh..Will, you are here Will." Will's smiled climbed to his eyes. "Mike, I'm here Mike." Will held out his arms to bring Mike in for a hug. "I missed you Mike." Mike held out his hands and pushed him away "bullshit Will! You left me you fucker! I needed you when I was in Hawkins and when I was away. You ran off and left me when I needed you most, when I was being abused. Crazy Together, yeah right! I went crazy while you were gone. I wanted you to be a comfort to me, but that was too much to ask. You can take your ass and leave." Will had unshed tears ready to fall as Mike screamed at him. A Doctor and two orderlies came in the room and whisked Will out of the room. "Stay here Mr. Byers until we find out what happened." Dr. Dumas requested of Will. Will was taken to Dr. Dumas's office.

Will sat in his chair silently sobbing because it hurt that Mike took out everything on him. Mike hurt Will also back in the day, but Mike twisted his hurt and used it against Will. How could Mike of hurted when he wanted nothing to do with Will back in the day. Will would of never have guessed that Mike needed him at all. Will wants a relationship with Mike and now that is gone. After a while Dr. Dumas came into his office.

"Michael is resting for now. You were of tremendous help William. We were looking for a reaction out of him to get him out of his mental block. I suggest you give us at least a couple weeks to work with him until you come to see him again. Now we can engage with him and give him the help he needs." Will shook the Doctor's hand and drove back to Hawkins.

It was 2 and a half weeks since Will was at Pennhurst. Will was busy with Ted Wheeler selling BGL to Interkey Ltd. Ted was invaluable getting favorable terms and a good price for Byers Game Labs. Will now is unemployed for the first time in his life. The money recieved will take care of Trevor's educational needs and Will's needs also. Will is planning on opening a new business soon. Trevor has a couple great ideas. Will worked so hard to get BGL off the ground and it was hard to give up the ship. BGL gave Will a way to care for Trevor and give them a decent life.
