Magnetic Match

CHAPTER 2

Zayn, Rayyan, and Zainab are playing a videogame, while Saif is drinking coffee in a living room.

Saif: Don't bore me, or I'll start coding again.

Zainab: okay we'll play later.

Zayn: I'm very tired from the gym today. I think I'll sleep for a long time.

Saif: You're always tired from the gym, Zayn. Maybe you should try coding. It's not as hard on your body.

Rayyan: Zayn would never make it in coding! He'd fall asleep at the keyboard!

Zainab : The way you sleep in fine arts class?

Saif: (laughing) "That's true! Zayn's not exactly the most tech-savvy person."

Zayn: wdym? I'm plenty tech-savvy. I can use Instagram and Snapchat with the best of them.

Saif: (teasingly) Oh, wow, that's impressive, Zayn. You can use social media. You must be a genius.

Rayyan: (jokingly) "Yeah, Zayn's a regular tech whiz. Maybe he can teach us all how to take a good selfie."

Zainab: Oh, Rayyan, you're so mean. But you have to admit, Zayn does take a pretty good selfie.

Zayn: See, she knows!

They were all chatting with each other when Chachu (Zainab's father) arrives home from the office. Everyone greets him, and then Chachi (Zainab's mother) tells them all to come and eat dinner.

At the dinner table, everyone is eating dinner when Zainab says, "I've invited my friends to a bridal shower."

Rayyan interrupts, "Our friends."

Zainab responds, "Whatever."

Shiza (Zainab's elder sister) asks, "What's the need for all this? We're already spending so much money."

Rayyan replies, "Don't worry, Shiza aapi, your wedding will be special, and we'll make sure of it."

Saif says, "Chachu, you're managing everything alone, give me some work to do too!"

Chachu responds, "Most things are taken care of, but there's still some work to be done for the bridal shower. You can help with that if you want."

Saif agrees, and Zainab says, "There's no need, I'll bake the cake, and Rayyan, Alishay, and Hala can handle the rest."

Zayn asks, "So, only your friends are invited to the bridal shower?"

Rayyan replies, "You all are invited too, but the theme is pink."

Zayn was drinking water, but when he hears Rayyan's comment, he bursts out laughing, and the water spills on Rayyan.

Rayyan exclaims, "I've just changed man!"

Saif tells them to relax and eat food.

Chachi says to Saif, "After Shiza's wedding, you should also think about yourself"

Saif responds, "Not so soon, Chachi."

Shiza jokes, "We'll see about that."

Zayn says, "Please yes so that i can dance to 'Mere yaar Ki Shaadi Hai' (My friend's wedding)!"

Scene shifted to another side

Omar was watching cricket on TV when Hala arrived and changed the channel with the remote.

Omar asked, "Can't you let me watch the match in peace?"

Hala replied, "No, I'm getting bored."

Omar said, "Why don't you call your friends for a group call like you always do?"

Hala retorted, "Let me watch in peace, or I'll tell Bhabhi (sister-in-law)!"

Omar replied, "I'm not scared at all."

Hala made a frightened expression, looking back and says, "bhabhi (sister in law)."

Omar immediately turned around to see. Hala burst out laughing.

Hala mimicked Omar, saying "I'm not scared at all" in a mocking tone.

Omar replied, "Never mind, can you please learn how to cook? I can't order food every day at midnight."

Hala retorted, "Then get married, I'm not your servant!"

Omar complained, "Mama (mother), see how your younger daughter talks to her elder brother. She has no manners!"

Hala shot back, "Mama (mother), see how my elder brother talks to his younger sister? Is anyone like that?"

Their mother intervened, "Enough, you both! Hala, you asked me about the pink dress, go check your wardrobe, you have so many clothes, no need to go shopping."

Hala replied, "Okay but I'll wear your saree at the wedding!"

Omar joked, "begaani shadi me abdullah deewanaa (you are getting excited for someone wedding which is not at all related to you)"
