It was mid morning by the time they left. After assessing the damage and trying to come up with a logical plan, Callie, Gary, and the thawing girls made their way to the Ecto-1 parked outside and jumped in. Callie and Gary took their spots up front as Y/n and Phoebe huddled together in the back. As soon as the doors were shut, Gary stepped on the gas and they speeded down the road towards Manhattan.
Phoebe leaned into Y/n's side, still in a state of disarray. Too much had happened and was happening that for the first time in forever, she just couldn't compute. She wanted to cry, but no tears would come. Y/n stared at the floor unblinking, one arm around Phoebe's shoulders, rubbing gentle circles on her back. Like before, no one knew what to say, but this silence was etched with fear rather than anger.
The four looked in shock out the windows as a dark storm brewed overhead, lightning striking everywhere. A supercell-like blizzard loomed threateningly in the distance, approaching Manhattan. Furious flurries whipped around the streets, blanketing everything. Sharp spikes of pure ice shot out of the ground, harpooning cars and shattering windows. The Ecto screeched around another corner.
"It's okay if you guys hate me..." Phoebe sighed sadly.
"What?" Y/n faltered.
Gary gripped the steering wheel tightly, weaving through traffic. "We don't hate you, we were worried about you."
Callie looked back at the girls, a sad glint in her eyes. "We didn't know where you were. You could've been killed."
"I trusted someone I shouldn't have." Phoebe admitted, eyes carefully wandering over to Y/n. "You were right... I should've listened to you. I just feel stupid."
Y/n pressed her lips together and furrowed her eyebrows, holding Phoebe a bit tighter.
"It's okay to feel stupid." Gary comforted. "Some of the smartest people I know are morons."
"Yeah, and I told you to make mistakes." Callie added.
"Yeah, not release a monstrous deity."
"Maybe next time, get a tattoo."
"Or try shoplifting. Hey, that'd be fun."
"Yeah, okay." Callie chided, raising her eyebrows at Gary.
Y/n slightly grinned. "I could use a partner in crime, you know. Always wanted to trespass onto abandoned property."
Phoebe smiled, feeling a little better. Well, as better as you could after... whatever the hell just happened.
"Hey. Are you ready to be a Spengler again?" Callie asked.
Phoebe nodded.
"Good," Gary said, seeing her nod in the rear view mirror, "cause we need you."
