He turned around, and stared hollow-eyed at Aurora. That same girl who was one of his one night stands. That same girl who ran on his mind ever since they spent that night together. That same girl for whom he broke his rules. That same girl who rejected him for the second time. That same girl. He looked at her with a frown for a split second but soon realized that a third person who didn't know anything about their illicit affair was present in the room too
He shut his eyes, inhaled and exhaled a sharp breathe, trying to calm himself down, and asked them to take their seats. Aurora blankly stared at him, not knowing what to say or how to react. Alyssa could sense the nervousness on her face. It was because of a new boss, she thought, and squeezed her hand.
"It's ok" she murmured, trying to calm her nervousness down. They sat on the two seats, and Damon began asking them questions, getting to know them.
The two girls answered everything confidently. Aurora was extremely nervous around Damon, but she was confident enough with her work. Damon, not much. He stared at her unabashedly. His secretary had to snap at him twice to make him focus on his work. Aurora noticed it all, but she did not make an eye contact except while answering the questions.
Alyssa sensed her restlessness. It was not the usual work related stress. They were friends since almost two whole years now, so she knew when Aurora was nervous or when she was restless or worried or scared. And right now, it was all of the things.
"I don't understand one thing. Look, if I want a new dress, and its stitches have come undone, so why would i buy it? Similarly, you and I both know how bad this company has been doing since over 6 months?" Alyssa asked in confusion as soon as they left the cabin. It was almost 1 pm, so they directly headed towards the canteen.
"If you buy a beautiful dress with a few stitches undone, you can actually sew it back even better than before. And by the way, stop comparing a company with a dress. If he has bought it, he may as well have a vision" Shehnaaz shrugged.
"He was hot as fuck, wasn't he?" Alyssa frowned at Aurora when she didn't. Her face went flush when she heard that as her mind took her back to the night of her irreversible treachery. But the question left her wondering, he was hot. And infact, any girl could be attracted to him easily.
"Say?" Alyssa frowned.
"I am married Lisa" she sighed to her friend.
"Admitting that someone is hot is cheating by the way" Alyssa pouted.
'Yeah but being smashed by the same person multiple times with no remorse definitely is' she silently thought to herself.
Not wanting to deal with any further discussion about him, Aurora subtly digressed the conversation and started asking Alyssa about her trip that she had just returned from.
Alyssa and Aurora were later sat at their desks, completing to go through a few files. Damon walked out of his cabin, gave them another few and asked Shehnaaz to complete those on an emergency basis and submit it in his cabin before they left.
Alyssa left early, almost everyone else left. Aurora completed her work regardless of the time. She had quit the spa, so overworking here would make no difference to her rather boring and empty life. She did not even spare a look at the clock. The office was empty and dark.
On the other hand, Damon watched her work so dedicatedly, without even blinking her eyes. He watched her through the live CCTV footage.
There was no one except the two and a helper there. She huffed, piled up the files and walked towards his cabin around an hour after her shift had already ended. He watched her in the different cctv screens as she walked and then he finally heard a subtle knock on the door. "Come in" he said, clearing his throat.
