Speaking of which, humans don't know much about elves.
Elves like cleanliness, nature, and all things bright and beautiful. Conversely, they detest all things dark and filthy. In short, they are a very finicky race.
They have gender distinctions, and elves can also bond due to love, but elf offspring are not produced through the union of male and female □.
As the darlings of nature, the next generation of elves is also nurtured in nature.
The loving couple blend their elf blood and produce offspring through specific conditions. For example, there is a type of elf called a flower bud elf, which drips elf blood onto a closed flower bud, allowing the flower's nutrients and environment to nurture the child's growth. When the flower blooms, the little elf is born inside the flower.
And like the egg-born elf they see before them, typically, elf blood is placed in the soil, and through a certain undisclosed medium in the elf tribe, they eventually form egg-like elf offspring.
The above is from Afra's introduction.
Lily was curious, "Afra, how do you know all this?"
Afra smiled, "My family has a volume dedicated to various legends about elves. It also says that elves are hailed as the purest race on the continent of Orlin, but because of their pure hearts, they dislike humans who like to scheme against each other and plot. Their impression of the church is even worse because there was a time in history when the church hunted elves extensively, and used them as pets and guards for the priests."
After she finished speaking, everyone looked incredulously at the sleeping little elf in the priest's arms.
"But then why is he so close to Yannick?"
"That's the contradiction," Afra explained. "The church uses light magic, and elves, a race longing for light, have a natural affinity for light magic. This is also why the church initially captured elves so easily. But legend has it that adult elves are trained to specifically resist and reject light magic. Maybe this little elf has just been born, so..."
After hearing this, Yannick looked at the "future enemy" in his arms, feeling his scalp tingling and overwhelmed with pressure. He quickly handed the little elf to Lily.
To their surprise, as soon as Lily took him, the little elf woke up, his mouth slightly open, his nose twitching lightly, as if he had detected a scent he didn't like, and immediately started wailing.
One after another, several people tried holding him, and except for Chris, who hadn't tried yet, everyone else made him cry as soon as they held him. It wasn't until the priest took the crying elf baby, who was out of breath, that he finally calmed down.
Asur had thought it was a young dragon in the egg, so he was reluctant to let go, even when chased by the Fire Wyrm. But when it hatched and turned out to be a troublesome elf, he immediately lost interest and even felt relieved that he hadn't been the one dealing with him.
Daniel frowned, "We have to cross the Dark Forest to reach the Jardet Empire. We can't bring this little guy with us, can we?"
Afra said, "Elves value their offspring greatly. Perhaps they are already searching for him, or we can send out a message after we reach the town of Tometown to contact the elves."
Lily suggested, "Yannick will get tired carrying him all the time. How about we cast a sleeping spell on him and take turns holding him?"
Asur interjected, "I have no experience taking care of babies..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he closed his mouth awkwardly under the condemning gazes of the others.
Lily decided, "Then it's settled!"
