However, its size was too small, and the water only reached chest level for humans, almost drowning it, so Yannick eventually mercifully scooped it up.

"Meow~" The soggy black ball sneezed and innocently looked at him.

"..." The somewhat germophobic priest wished he could just throw it out.

"Meow?" The kitten attempted to lick his fingers in a pleasing manner, but its neck was too short to reach, so it settled for rubbing its head against him.

Yannick ultimately didn't chase it away, considering that draining the entire pool and starting over would be quite troublesome. Besides, this little thing didn't seem too dirty— that's how he comforted himself at least.

"Since you're already here, let's give you a proper bath!" Holding it in one hand, Yannick scooped water onto its body with the other, while also smoothing out its fur as if he were using a brush.

The kitten's performance once again shattered his worldview. Not only did it not struggle or yowl, it actually closed its eyes in enjoyment and meekly let him handle it. Its level of cuteness and obedience made even the cynical priest feel a bit reluctant.

Yannick: "Do you want to follow me?"

Kitten: "Meow~"

Yannick: "I can't stay in Lacerena forever. Going to the capital might make you cannon fodder. The cats there are different from a countryside cat like you. You might not be able to escape being bullied."

Kitten: "Meow~"

Yannick: "Bringing you along, what can you do? Can you cook?"

Kitten: "Meow~ Meow~"

Yannick: "...Didn't understand that."

How could he mistakenly believe that cats in the magical world understood human language?

Once the kitten was clean, it was tossed into a pile of clean linen. As it struggled to climb out, it caught sight of the priest putting on clothes, revealing a large expanse of white skin. Since it was almost bedtime, Yannick wasn't wearing his priestly attire as usual, but instead a robe provided by Lord Tannis.

The loose and silky fabric hugged his body, outlining a slender waist and pert buttocks below. This emphasized the priest's good physique as a man— he wasn't as weak as he appeared.

The kitten let out a soft meow, walking over to the priest and rubbing against his ankles.

Yannick finished putting on the robe, noticing that the kitten's fur was still damp. He picked up a cloth and carefully dried it off until its fur fluffed up entirely, then chuckled maliciously and let it go.

Carrying the kitten back to the room, he found the elf baby already awake, crawling around on the thick blankets spread out on the floor. Seeing Yannick, it crawled over excitedly, hugging his legs and attempting to climb up. Unable to resist, Yannick bent down to pick him up and placed him on the sofa, then tossed the kitten over.

"Get along well, you two."

Whether the elf or the kitten understood or not, the kitten was too small to harm the elf, and being so agile, the elf couldn't harm it either.

Yannick found a quiet corner and sat down, starting to organize the magic he had learned so far.

He could now use intermediate healing spells, and a complete mana circulation had formed in his body. As long as his mana continued to grow, he would eventually be able to use more advanced spells. However, for Yannick, this "eventually" seemed quite distant. Out of concern for his safety, he naturally hoped for progress as soon as possible.
