Chapter 3

I fell asleep and woke up at 9:30 am. I guess I'm just an early bird.

I looked at my phone messages. One missed call. One voicemail.

Both from Rain.

I unlocked my phone and played the voicemail. Rain said:

"Hi Mike, it's Rain. Um I need to tell you something and you're going to be mad. Very mad. Call me back as soon as you get this message"

I was nervous. What could she possibly have done?

I pressed "Call Back" and waited for her to pick up. The phone rang for about 20 seconds. Where was she?

Finally, Rain picked up. "Hi, Michael."

"Rain, what's going on? What do you need to tell me?" I said nervously. Part of me wanted to know, but part of me was too nervous to want to hear what she was going to tell me.

"Mike, there's no easy way saying this. I'm in love with you." she said.

My nerves left. That was all? Why would that anger me?

"Rain, I'm in love with you too!" I said.

"That's the problem. Mike I'm dating your cousin Johnny." she said.

"Oh." I said. I was starting to get very angry. Last year, Johnny broke my phone and my bike and smashed the windows to my family's car. He did this, because he thought I was flirting with his girlfriend. Johnny didn't love Rain, he was trying to find revenge on me.

"Please don't be mad, Mike. Johnny just treats me right." she said.

"But what about us?" I asked.

"I'm sorry, Mike. There isn't going to be an us. I hope we can still be friends." she said sadly.

"Johnny is just using you. He's trying to get revenge on me!" I said.

"Mike, that isn't true. I... love Johnny." she said. Those last 3 words were like knives plunging into my heart.

"Well then I wish you the fucking best." I screamed at her. I hung up and fell face first into my bed.

I screamed on the top of my lungs, "I HATE YOU JOHNNY!"

I beat up my pillow to try and get the anger out, but it didn't work. The only thing I can do is confront Johnny himself.

In my underwear, I ran to Johnny's house. I banged on the door.

Johnny opened the door. With a smirk on his face, he said "Well how are you doing Mikey?"

I punched him in the face. I was never so angry in my life.

I jumped on top of him and beat him up. "Why the hell did you do this to me?"

"Revenge is a bitch, isn't it?" He said smiling.

Why was he smiling? I was beating him up! His smirks angered me even more. I punched him in the face four more times. His dad (my uncle) came downstairs and seperated me from him.

"MIKE! GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE!" Uncle Bobert screamed. He smelled like beer.

"NO!" I screamed at his face.

He punched me in the face and my head hit the corner of their front door. I passed out.
