Chapter 6

No. No. It couldn't be true! I had to face off against the most talented singer in the world. My dream was ruined...

"Daisy will sing first." The announcer said.

A member of the stage crew handed her a microphone, "Thank you."

The music started playing. I recognized it almost instantly. Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls.

"I'd give up forever to touch you..." she sang. Every note felt like a different knife plunged into my soul.

When she finished, they handed me the mic.

The music started playing. I was singing "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith.

"I could stay awake just to hear you breathing..." The crowd reacted the same way they did for Daisy. Did I really have a chance?

This satisfaction gave me more confidence. I sang louder and brighter.

"I don't wanna close my eyes! I don't wanna fall asleep cuz I'd miss you baby! I don't wanna miss a thing."

I was applauded. The feeling was indescribable.

I waited a few minutes off stage until the announcer finally said something.

"I have the results from the X Factor Producers," The audience was silent, "Both Daisy Beemount and Mike Webber will go through! A teen named Trevor Moran was too sick and missed his audition. There's room for the both of you!"

I was ecstatic. I made it through to see the judges! I was going to meet the judges of Season 3!

I ran over to Daisy. I said to her "Wow you are just amazing! I'm glad we both got through!"

She looked at me like I was dirt. "You don't care about me. You just wanted to get through. If I didn't make it, you probably wouldn't even have said goodbye to me."

I was confused and angry. She turned around and walked away sassily. What did I do to her? The thought of her mad at me really upset me. But, why? She was a total stranger. Why was I upset when a total stranger was mad at me?.. Weird..
