"High'r." Jane heard from behind her and she adjusted her aim, "Aaaaan' go." She pulled the trigger and the arrow released which kicked her back to the ground and Daryl laughed as he helped her up taking the crossbow off of her "That was fun! Did I hit the target?!" Jane asked excitedly and Daryl chuckled pointing up at the target where the arrow was stuck in the edge and it made Jane jump up and down cheering "I finally did it! I hit the target! Look Mister. Daryl! Look at it!" She says happily and Daryl nods "I'm lookin squirt." He says and Jane smiles widely going to pick up her bear "Look at that Sheriff I hit the target! Wait till I tell Mommy and Mister. Dale!" She says happily and Daryl nods his head going over to pull out the arrow.
They head back to the small Dixon camp and Daryl puts the cross bow and arrows away quietly so he doesn't wake his brother and then he walks back up to the main camp with Jane holding his wrist, Daryl had noticed in the last few weeks that the little girl had started latching onto him more, hugging him when she would first see him and then holding onto him when they walked anywhere and then she would hug him goodbye. He wondered why she always followed him around, because he was definitely no role model and he was definitely not the friendliest person in the camp but here Jane was... following him around like a lost little puppy. The girl loved to spend time with the Dixon's and they had started teaching her key survival skills, how to use a small knife, how to follow tracks although she was still getting the hang of that, and they taught her how to recognise poisonous berries and mushrooms.
Candice had never been more grateful for the Dixons because they had become two very important figures in Jane's life and she looked to the two of them as much as she looked to her mother for approval and it angered her father more than she knew. Shane was a different man, Candice didn't quite know what was going on with him but she knew that it was nothing good, to be honest she wanted Jane to stay away from Shane but she didn't know how to word that to her daughter. She knew that Jane didn't speak to Shane anymore but she didn't want to say anything to her that would scare the six year old away from her father.
Candice heard her daughters happy voice and turned to see her six year old swinging both her and Daryl's hands as they walked, "Hey you two, Jane did you listen to Daryl when he was teaching you?" Candice says as her daughter lets go of Daryl and sprints up to her "Yes Mommy! I even hit the target!" She says happily and Candice grinned "Really! Oh wow baby girl!" She says as Daryl finally get to them "Alrigh' Candy." He says nodding and Candice smiles and nods her head, the nickname had been a fairly new one that Daryl had started using when talking to her "I'm good Dare, how are you?" Candice says and Daryl nods his head crossing his arms.
"They were talking about doing the supply run today... are you gonna go?" Candice asks Daryl and he thinks for a minute about to say something then he looks down at Jane's little face who is now looking up at him with wide eyes as if she's afraid of something, Daryl shakes his head "Nah, 'm not, don' know bout Merle though." Daryl says shrugging and Jane seems to almost sigh in relief which both adults notice and they give each other a concerned glance as the little girl then goes back to her happy mood. "Mommy, I need to go and tell Mister. Dale about how I did!" Jane says and her mother nods "That's fine baby!" Candice says and Jane quickly hugs her mother's legs before turning and hugging Daryl who only slightly jumped having now gotten used to these unexpected hugs.
Jane walks over to the RV and uses all her strength to throw Sheriff onto the roof which always is a sign to Dale that Jane is coming to see him and he smiles when the bear hits the roof knowing that he has company to join him. "Hey Mister. Dale!" Jane says as her head pops up from the ladder of the RV "Hey there sweetheart. How are you doing this morning?" Dale asks her and she smiles going over to sit down beside his chair after picking up Sheriff "I'm good! I got to use Mister. Daryl's crossbow again today and I actually hit the target!!!" She says and Irma who was leaning against Dale's chair smiles down at her "I saw the shot you took, it was very good dear." Irma says and Jane looks past Dale to smile at her "Thanks Miss. Irma." Jane says and it makes Dale smile knowing that his wife was still with him even though she was dead.
