As soon as we heard the shouting, Mr. E dropped me and ran ahead to check it out. I fell flat on my face.

"Hey! Ow! Come back here and-!"

He probably couldn't hear me. I scowled and crawled up to my feet. I ripped off a branch from a tree and used it as a walking stick. My leg was banged up and it wasn't going where I wanted it to go. I hate when something just won't listen, Y'know?

I hobbled over to find that the two were just breaking themselves out of quicksand. Harumi landed on Lloyd as Mr. E went ready to help Lloyd to his feet. Though, he recoiled when Harumi fell on Lloyd.

"You can get off me now..!" Harumi grumbled.

"I'm not on you." Lloyd glared. "You're. on. me."

Lloyd pushed her off him.

Lloyd grabbed Mr. E's hand and nodded to him. Lloyd cut a vine down.

"Give me your hands." Lloyd said to Harumi, holding out the rope.

"Is that really necessary..?" Harumi asked.

"You literally attacked me like thirty seconds ago!" Lloyd exclaimed.

"I won't do it again!" She begged. "I think we're past that. You just saved my life. Truce?"

"No. Now gimme your hands!" Lloyd repeated.

"Fine."

Harumi began to comply, but she struck him and stole the blade.

"See? That's why you lose, Lloyd. Because you're gullible and-"

Lloyd Kicked her away, and she leapt back to attack.

"Okay, that's it!" Lloyd yelled. He hit her away with his tornado thingy. Spinjudo? Hurricane-something?

"Cheater." She glared.

"I'd rather be gullible than deceitful." He snapped. "I'd rather choose to see the good in people than the bad. All you have inside you is hate and anger and fear."

"What's bad about hate, anger, and fear?" I spoke up. Everyone turned to me.

"See? He gets it." Harumi said. "Hey! I am not-"

Above us, two council members were looking for us.

"I saw something green! I swear it!" The snake lady said.

"Green? Well that's helpful! He could be anywhere!" Vangelis argued.

Harumi pushed Lloyd away from her and waved her arms around.

"I'm over here!" She yelled.

Lloyd grabbed Harumi and began to run away as the council surrounded us. Mr. E grabbed me again and put me over the shoulder. I dropped my stick.

"H-! HEY I CAN WALK!"

'Yes, but we need to run.' He signed quickly as he ran.

"Stop him!" Aspheera shouted.

We met up with Lloyd, we had reached a dead end. A cliff. Mr. E carelessly dumped me.

"Ow!"

"You see? All your noble ideals and your foolish hopes." Harumi laughed at Lloyd. "What did they get you? Where are your friends now, when you need them most?!"

Just then, the Destiny's Bounty rises behind us. Lloyd sees it first and smiles, leaving Harumi to struggle to speak.

"No... No..! That's impossible!!" She roared.

Mr. E threw me onto the ship, which earned a laugh from Lloyd. I hit the hard wood with a grunt. Could I not be thrown, fired at, or carried for FIVE MINUTES?! I've been temporarily paralyzed for 7 minutes and I've already been forced to jump two cliffs.

"Lloyd! Come!" Master wu yelled.

I hit my head repeatedly on the wood as everything sinks in.

The overlord...
