The black curtains were locking the sunlight behind but it was already 9am. Sara slowly opened her eyes, her head throbbing from the fever but her fever was now long gone. As her vision cleared, she realized she was wrapped in Kartik's embrace, his warmth providing comfort against the chill of the room.
Startled, she tried to shift away, but Kartik's arms tightened around her. She smiled sadly and buried her face into his chest taking a heavy breathe. Though she was craving peace but the situation was pathetic for her but his presence...my goodness...It was heaven.
Sara got up but as she moved, Kartik stirred, his arm tightening around her waist instinctively. She chuckled looking at him as he was looking like a cute kid in sleep.
Kartik still asleep, Sara quietly slipped out of bed, her movements careful not to disturb him. She got freshen up and went down. She was feeling much well after the yesterday night sleep. Suddenly a thought came up to her.
"Mam breakfast main kya banau?" their cook asked when she entered the kitchen.
"Nahi ap jayiye aaj main banaugi. Waise Kartik ko kya khana jyada pasand hain?"
"Mam sir to apni coffee aur sandwich hi khate hain morning ko"
"Accha aap jayiye aur apke sir uth jaye to bol dijiye ga ki main kitchen main hu"
She decided to make risotto as one she heard that it’s his favouriteSara set to work, the rhythmic clinking of pots and pans filling the quiet morning.
She was arranging plates and Kartik entered the kitchen and saw Sara, his initial reaction was one of concern mixed with frustration.
"Sara tum kiu yeh sab kar rahi ho? tumhari tabiyat kharab hain...please chalo"
"Baas ho gaya chalo"
She brought two plates outside and sat on the dining. Kartik had it and looked at her.
"It’s fantastic Sara. I can eat it for the rest of my life"
"Thank you" Sara chuckled.
"Ab khana khake tum jaake rest karogi,ok?" Kartik said sternly.
"Mujhe bahar jana padega businesses ke regarding. Tyagi uncle ko phone karungi fir jaungi" Sara said focusing on the plate moving the spoon.
"Aaj mat jaw. Ekdin rest karlo"
"Paar..."
"Please..."
"Ok"
Sara was not smiling like she always did. Kartik knew that she couldn’t overcome anything.
"Btw tumhe ab bohot jyada workload lena padega. Businesses bohot tricky cheeze hain aur construction businesses to aur bhi jyada paar I know you'll manage everything" Kartik smiled.
"Pata nahi..." Sara replied shortly. They finished their breakfast and Kartik took Sara to their room. He insisted her to lay down. As Sara half laid against a mountain of pillows, Kartik lay beside her, his body turned slightly towards her, with one arm supporting his weight.
"Tumhe aaj kahi nahi jana?" Sara asked him.
"Nahi...3 din tak main leisure pe rahunga"
"Paar mummy to keh rahi thi ki tum kabhi leisure nahi lete"
"Haan isiliye to ab le raha hu"
"Koi special wajah?"
"Tumhe koi problem hain? Main chala jau?" saying he was getting up.
"Nahi nahi" Sara said.
"By the way humare trip se pehle maine tumhe library main dekha tha ekdin...which book you are reading currently? Tell me about it"
