Sara was watching Kartik from behind who was now staring at the moon. His silhouette was visible to him even in darkness. She was walking towards him to hug him from behind. But suddenly a terrific gunshot was heard. Sara couldn't comprehend anything furthermore as the next scene in front of her was....

Kartik's figure crumpled to the ground, his body convulsing with pain as blood stained beneath him. Sara's screams echoed through the darkness as she fell on the ground.

Kartik jolted awake, his heart pounding in his chest as Sara's piercing scream reverberated through the room. He quickly switched on the light and saw Sara sitting and breathing heavily. He quickly switched on the lights.

She clutched onto him and started touching him desperately to be assured about his well-being. She was caressing his cheeks, keeping her hand to his chest and tossing and turning his hands to check for any injury believing to her nightmare real. Kartik held her trembling hands tight.

"Sara?" he called out, his voice laced with concern as he reached out for to hug and give comfort

"Kya hua, Sara...?"

"Kartik tum" her voice trembled. "I saw you... I thought... I thought I lost you...Gunshot...tum" She cried out.

"Sara Sara shant dekho I am ok" Kartik said pulling her to him. But she got into his lap and hugged him keeping her head on his chest listening to his heartbeats.

She was shivering and Kartik started stroking her back.

"Bacha please shant ho jaw. It was a nightmare. I promise I am not going anywhere" Kartik was feeling helpless watching her. She never showed her pain. She got silent after getting hurt and act mature in any panic situation.

"Kartik promise me tum...woh nahi...please" his t-shirt was getting wet by then

"I promise meri jaan...mera baccha..I promise main tumhe kabhi akela nahi chodunga"

"Sara ek second thoda betho and take a deep breathe" Kartik tried to break the hug and make her sit as she was having trouble to breathe. But she didn't leave him rather tighten her grip around him.

After a while, Sara was getting calm but still sobbing a bit. Kartik made her sip water. She lowered her gaze. She never cried so vulnerably like this in front of anyone though she was a literal emotional girl but only when no one was around.

"Sara it's ok" Kartik cupped her face as if understanding her silence.

"Sorry...main" She couldn't finish as Kartik stopped her by placing a finger on her lips.

"Already itna soch rahi ho ki dreams bhi ese wese aa rahe hain. Please aur jyada tension mat lo"

Sara hummed. Kartik helped Sara laying down and he laid beside. She got closer and snuggled into his chest. They drifted into sleep again.

Sara's eyes fluttered open, the nightmare was still clinging to the edges of her consciousness. As she sat up, her eyes were searching for Kartik's familiar presence, but finding only an empty space beside her. She was about to go outside when a staff came and said,

"Mam, Sir ne bola ki aap fresh ho jaiyye aur kamre main baithiye"
Sara was confused but nodded.

She got freshen up and sat on the bed. The door creaked open, and Kartik stepped into the room, a small smile playing on his lips as he balanced a food tray in his hands.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," he greeted, his voice soft and warm as he approached the bed.

Relief flooded through Sara as she watched him, "Kartik, kaha the tum?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern.
