Y/n and Carlos arrive at the front of Auradon Prep just as Mal and Ben walk onto a small platform.
"Hi," y/n whispers to Evie.
"Hey y/n," she replies. "It's a good thing you came in time, it's just about to start!"
Carlos and y/n watch hand in hand as all the attention of the citizens of Auradon lies on Mal and Ben.
"Oh, stay," Fairy Godmother instructs Mal just as she's about to step off the platform.
"Stay here?" Mal asks.
"Yes." she replies. "Bippity-boppity, one-two, one-two, can everybody hear me? Yes! Ben." Fairy Godmother hands a golden microphone to the king and he addresses the crowd.
"Thank you, Fairy Godmother. What's up, Auradon? Thank you, thank you so much for coming out to welcome our new arrivals. They'll be here soon. It worked out pretty well for the first five," he chuckles.
"Yeah, especially for you," Chad sneers from the crowd.
"Really funny," Audrey says sarcastically to Chad with an eye roll.
"Mal, this is the exact spot we first met not so long ago. I feel like I've known you my whole life. But did I mention I'm in love with you?"
Doug strums a slow tune on his guitar as Ben breaks into song.
Ben:
I met this girl that rocked my world,
Like it's never been rocked
And now I'm living just for her,
and I won't ever stop
I never thought it can happen to a guy like me,
But now look at what you've done
You got me down on my knee
"Mal, it's you and me. It's you and me forever. Will you marry me? Will you be my queen?" Ben says as he gets down on one knee with a ring box in hand.
"NO!" Audrey suddenly screams.
"Yes!" Mal exclaims with teary eyes.
Ben stands up and slides the ring on Mal's finger just as she grabs his face and kisses him passionately. The crowd cheers for the now engaged couple and everyone has a smile on their face—almost everyone.
Carlos chest-bumps the former king, but realises what he's done and quickly apologies. He and Jay share a laugh as they congratulate Ben on his engagement.
"Makes our movie nights seem a little tame," Doug says to Evie.
"I love you--movies," Evie blurts out, quickly catching herself at the last word.
"Me too," Doug smiles at her.
"Yeah," she replies.
"She's gonna make a great queen," y/n says to Carlos with a smile.
"You're gonna make an even greater one," Carlos replies.
"But I'm not gonna be a queen." She looks at him with a confused expression.
"Well, you're my queen," he says with a smile of his own, instantly causing y/n to blush.
"Gosh, why do you always have to be so cheesy?" she jokes, attempting to hide her grin.
"Am I?" he jokes back, wrapping his arm around her waist and nuzzling his neck in the crook of hers, making her slightly chuckle.
"A lifetime of plans. Gone. Our family status. Gone. Audrey, you were supposed to be his queen, and you let him slip through your fingers. Your mother could hold on to a prince in her sleep," Queen Leah reprimands her granddaughter while everyone is celebrating the royal betrothal.
