Y/n sits on the bleachers reading a book, while Ben is helping Carlos on the tourney field.
"Okay. Carlos, we're gonna do some sprints. You ready?" Ben asks.
"Oh! Ah! No, wait!" Carlos screams. Y/n looks up from her book to see why Carlos screamed and sees a dog chasing him. She immediately gets off the bleachers and runs down to him.
"Sweet!" Ben says, completely oblivious to the fact that Carlos is running away from the field.
"Carlos, wait!" Y/n calls, but Carlos runs into the forest.
"No! Ah!" He continues to scream.
"Carlos? Carlos!" Ben says, realising that Carlos is running into the forest.
"Carlos, hold up!" Y/n says, running after him.
"Carlos!" Ben exclaims, catching up to them.
"Y/n? Ben?" Carlos says as he climbs up a tree.
"Whoa-Whoa-Whoa!" Ben says.
"Help me! This thing is a killer! He's gonna chase me down and rip out my throat. This is a vicious, rabid pack animal!" Carlos panics.
"Hey, who told you that?" Ben asks.
"His mother," y/n says. She knew how Cruella always told him fake stories about dogs to scare him.
"Cruella?" Ben says.
"She's a dog expert. A dog yellerer." Carlos states.
"Yellerer," y/n scoffs. "He's so cute. Can I hold him?" Ben passes the dog to her.
"Why are you holding him y/n? He's gonna attack you!" Carlos screams.
"Carlos, you've never actually met a dog, have you?" Ben asks.
"Of course not," he replies.
"Dude, meet Carlos and y/n. Guys, this is Dude. He's the campus mutt," Ben says.
"He doesn't look like a vicious, rabid pack animal. Jeez. You're a good boy, aren't you? You're a good boy," Carlos says while he and y/n stroke Dude's fur.
"I guess you guys have it pretty rough on the island," Ben says.
"You could say that," Y/n replies.
"Let's just say we don't get a lot of belly rubs," Carlos adds.
"Good boy," Ben says to Carlos, making Carlos and y/n stare at him, confused. "I mean, you're a good runner. You're... you're fast, you know," he continues.
"Oh. Yeah. Thank you," Carlos says. He smiles when he sees y/n petting Dude with a happy expression on her face.
"Yeah. Listen, I'm gonna give you guys some space, yeah? You guys get to know each other and just, you know, come find me when you're done, okay?" Ben says, leaving Dude with y/n and Carlos.
"Okay," says Carlos.
"Thanks," says y/n.
She sits down on a rock and Carlos sits next to her, Dude still in her arms. She leans her head on Carlos' shoulder while petting Dude. After a while, Dude leaves, leaving them alone together.
Y/n looks up at Carlos, who looks down at her. She lifts her head off his shoulder as he cups her cheek with his hand, their faces just inches apart.
"Carlos..." she starts, but Carlos leans his head closer to her and closes the gap between their lips.
His kiss is soft and tender, and she returns it while wrapping her arms around his neck. They break apart, y/n's arms still around his neck.
"Finally," he whispers, causing y/n to chuckle a bit. He wraps his arms around her waist as he brings her in for another kiss, this time for longer.
After they break apart again, y/n leans her head against his chest, and he wraps his arm around her waist. They stay like that for a while, forgetting their mission, forgetting what will happen if they fail to deliver the wand, forgetting everything else in the world except for each other and that one moment.
