I felt hands shaking me.
"Go away. I'm trying to sleep." I groaned. Then someone flopped on top of me.
"I'm fine like this. I can still sleep." I said quietly. I lied. I couldn't breathe.
"Come on. Wake up." I heard Luke's deep voice say. I opened my eyes and saw Luke laying on top of me. It wasn't weird because he's been hanging around my house since I was fourteen.
"What are you doing here?" I groaned.
"I've come to wake you up. Everyone is downstairs, including your friends. We're going out." He said. I rubbed my eyes.
"Where?" I asked.
"Somewhere." He said and then he got off of me. I heard his footsteps go downstairs. I sighed and got up. I got dressed and brushed my hair. I put my make up on and shoes. I jogged downstairs and saw everyone sitting at our family table. My mom was in the kitchen cooking something. Everyone had pulled up chairs to the round table eating pancakes. I stood at the stairs just taking everything in. Then I felt eyes boring into me. I looked at the table and saw Ashton. Then he looked away and blushed. I blushed too and walked to the kitchen.
"She lives!" Michael yelled. I laughed and playfully slapped him in the shoulder.
"Owe, that hurt so bad." He said sarcastically.
"Do you want me to hit you harder?" I asked lifting my hand up. He wrapped his arms around his head.
"No! Please!" He wined.
"That's what I thought." I said and then walked into the kitchen. I started getting out a bowel and getting fruit.
"Dude you're scared of your seventeen year old sister?" Calum asked.
"Hey, she hits hard." Michael argued.
"Whatever." Calum said laughing. I walked back over with my fruit salad and sat down.
"Look, your sister that eats a fruit salad for breakfast scares you." Calum said.
"What's wrong with fruit salad?" I asked taking a its of banana.
"Oh, nothing." He said. I glared playfully at him and took another bite.
"So what's the plan?" Aralia asked.
"You'll see." Luke said smirking. Aralia smiled and looked down at her plate. I took my bowl to the sink, rinsed it out, and put it in the dishwasher. I walked back and saw a bunch of plates stacked up in the middle. Someone minus well clean them up. I sighed and grabbed the plates. I did the same to them that I did to my bowl. I walked back and sat down. I looked at my hands in my lap and looked up. Ashton was looking at me and he turned away and blushed again. I blushed too. My heart fluttered. I was falling for this boy, and I barely knew him. I took a deep breath. No you can't. You'll just get hurt again. I shook my head and looked at my hands in my lap.
"Alright, everyone ready?" Calum asked. I nodded and stood up. We all walked out to the car and I ran toward the car.
"Shotgun!" I yelled racing to the passenger door.
"No! Fuck off Summer!" Michael yelled. I raced him to the door and I opened the door. I climbed in the seat and then I was crushed by the weight of Michael.
"Ugh, get off!" I said pushing him.
"Not unless I get the seat." He said.
"Okay. Get off." I said. He got out of the car and I closed the door. I locked it before he could get in. He flipped me off and got in the passenger door of the mini van.
"Little shit." Michael said trying to hit me. I ducked and covered my head. I rose up and he hit me in the cheek.
"Owe!" I screeched then I turned around and tried to hit him.
"Sibling Fight! Duck For Cover!" Luke yelled. He was sitting by Michael then he jumped over to the side and landed on Aralia. She screeched and covered her face. I started hitting Michael. Not punching, just slapping. Michael was doing the same.
"Calm the Fuck Down!" Calum said putting his arms in our mess. I groaned and sat forward. I buckled my seat belt and sighed looking forward. I looked over and saw Ashton driving.
"So, Ashton, what do you like?" I asked. He took a deep breath and didn't exhale.
"Um, what do you mean?" He asked awkwardly.
"You know, what's your favorite things to do? Your favorite color? Your favorite place?" I asked. He liked shocked and first.
"Um, I like hanging out with my friends and my little brother, Harry. And my favorite color is red. And I don't have a favorite place." He said. I nodded.
"You?" He asked.
"Oh, I'm, I like hanging out with friends, my favorite colors are blue, white, and black. And my favorite place is here. I just love Sydney." I said. He smiled at me and then looked at the road again.
"So, about our friendly date." I said, "Where are we going?"
"We can go get lunch. Or a picnic in the park. Or we could go to a nice restera-"
"Yeah- no. How about we got do laser tag. That's always fun and then we can go get lunch." I said. He smiled.
"Sounds great." He said. Then the familiar scent of saltwater and barbecues wafted through the car.
"Are we going to the beach?" I asked. Ashton nodded.
"We haven't been to the beach in awhile." Michael said.
"But you had to take us?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Why?" I asked with sass.
"Because I wanted to. Now stop asking questions." He said waving his hand at me.
"It's because you like Celestine, isn't it." I said a smile creeping up on my face. He said he liked her ever since we were thirteen last year, I wonder if he still does... He gave me a glare that could kill.
"No. It's because I wanted to. Now shut the fuck up." He said through gritted teeth. I stuck my tongue out And looked forward. We parked on a neighborhood street since the parking lot is always filled. I opened the back of the van and got out the beach bag we always keep in our car, in case we have a situation like this. I grabbed the one for girls and the one for guys. Then I turned around and was walked in the boob by Celestine.
"Owe!" I screamed covering my boob with my arms and dropping the stuff.
"Are you okay!?" Ashton said coming around. I immediately let go of my boob.
"Fine." I said sweetly. He grabbed the black beach bad and walked away. I backhanded Celestine in the boob.
"Payback." I said smirking.
"You embarrassed me!" She whisper screamed.
"Yes well I embarrassed Michael too, so." I said in my regular tone of voice.
"Shut up! He can probably hear you!" She whisper screamed.
"Good." I said smirking. She raised a hand at me and I ran away. I turned around to look at her and rammed into someone's back. I fell on my bum. Everyone started laughing and I laughed with them. Ashton stuck his hand out and I grabbed it. He hoisted me up and I brushed off my bum.
"Thanks." I exhaled. He nodded and picked up the bag handing it to me. I muttered another small thanks.
"Dude, you don't have to do that much for her. She can do it he self." Michael said. I glared at him and looked at Ashton, who was glaring at Michael as well.
"Well, I think he's just being a gentleman. Maybe you could learn something." I snapped, smirking. I started walking again and Ashton caught up with me.
"Why are you following me around?" I asked.
"Because I'm attracted to attend people." He said. I blushed and looked at my feet. Don't fall for him you'll only get hurt.
"Thank you." I said smiling at my feet. I didn't want to see a disappointment that laced his face. I knew it was there. It always was when I rejected him.
"Sorry." I muttered.
"Why are you apologizing?" Ashton asked.
"Because-" I was going to tell him why, but d coded against it. "Never mind." I said. He looked at me with confusion and disbelief, but he looked ahead again.
"Look! We're here!" Michael yelled. I walked with them to the sandy beach. I changed into my bathing suit in the bathroom and walked out to the towels we put down. Ashton was sitting down with glasses on and he was eating a sandwich. I laid down and put on my sunglasses. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
"Tanning?" Ashton asked. I opened my eyes and looked at him.
"Yeah, just trying to relax." I said. Ashton nodded and looked forward.
"What were you gonna say earlier?" He asked. Oh he would let this down.
"Um, I was apologizing cause I accidentally hit you with my bag." I lied.
"Oh." He said. He looked forward. I could tell he knew I was lying. I sat up and looked at everyone else building a sand castle.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" He asked. I giggled and shook my head.
"I better be pretty damn important to a guy if he wants to date me." I said.
"Your important to me." Ashton said. My heart did back flips. No you cannot fall for this guy.
"Likely story." I said coldly. I looked away, but he continued to look at me.
"You do mean a lot to me." He said.
"Oh yeah, how?" I said.
"Your the one who keeps me awake at night. Because I'm thinking of you." He said.
"And you know what else I do? I cause pain. I hurt people because I've been hurt before. I don't need to hurt anyone else just because I'm afraid." I said standing up, "That's why I don't want to go out with you. Because I know I'll hurt you." I grabbed my clothes and slipped on only my shorts. I walked down the beach And eventually stopped when I couldn't go any farther. I sat down on one of the rocks sticking out of the sand. I sat down and watched the water lapped at the giant rock. Then I heard footsteps walk up to me. I continued to look down until they were right beside me. I didn't look up.
"Your not going to hurt anyone." Ashton's voice said. I took a deep breath.
"Yes I will... Watch. Give me one chance and I will." I said. Ashton sat down on the rock next to me.
"What gave you that idea?" I took a deep breath.
"I was taken advantage of." I said.
"At prom... When I was fourteen... One of the popular girls dumped a bucket of water on my head and my boyfriend laughed and said it was all a prank. He didn't love me. H-He said I was ugly and f-fat." I said. The tears streaming down my cheeks. Ashton turned my face so I was in front of his. He searched my face and then kissed me. We were in a lip lock. I didn't know what was happening, but I decided to go with it. I kissed him back and put my hands on his shoulders. He arms snaked around my waist. He pulled away.
"If you were fat or ugly, I wouldn't have done that." He said breathless.
"About time!" I heard Calum yell. I saw everyone else watching from behind s giant rock. They came out of their hiding place and came toward us.
"You do not know, how long he's been wanting to do that." Luke said.
"I'm sure Summer felt the same." Trina said. I blushed and jumped off the rock.
"Come on. Let's go before someone steals our stuff." I said. I walked toward the other side of the beach. Then I heard footsteps and Trina, Aralia, and Celestine raced up to me.
"Is he a good kisser?" Trina asked. I giggled and nodded.
"So are you two gonna go on an actual date?" Aralia asked wiggling her eyebrows. I shrugged.
"I don't know. Maybe." I said.
"You better." Celestine said. I smiled and looked behind me to see them talking and then Michael pushing Ashton in the sand. My smile turned into worry, but then I saw them laughing and Michael helped Ashton up. That's my main concern, Michael. What will he think of me going out with a nineteen year old guy?
