February 17th 2023Rose and Diana, the best friends of 8 years, were talking on the phone. Diana said “Girl, I have a project to do with some other classmates I can introduce you if you like.” Rose hesitated, but agreed since her best friend was so excited to introduce her to new people. She joined the call and met Ruth, Nancy and Josh. They seemed funny and nice. Josh then added another friend, Calvin. He seemed very interesting. He also couldn’t spell to save his life. Which Rose found quite annoying since she believed that good spelling makes a good person.
Out of everyone in the call, Rose hated Calvin the most. He being the kind of person to take nothing seriously, it wasn't at all her vibe. Calvin then started texting Rose non stop, many things someone who was in a relationship shouldn't say to another girl but yet he did it anyway. Rose knew he was in a relationship, and she reminded him constantly about it but he kept going at it. Flirting and pushing. Saying things like “You look so good”, “I love that top on you”, “Can you please send me a picture of you”. Rose hated it so much. “Stop saying these things, you have a girlfriend” she said to him. “Fine, I'll stop, for now…” he replied
The friend group of Diana and Calvin had a family tree. Diana being the “mother” of 4 "sons" and Rose being the wife of Diana, she got 4 "sons" by default. Calvin being one of the them, it resulted in Rose and Calvin becoming closer as months passed, he seemed kind of like a best friend. He wasn't as bad as the first impression, or so she thought… Rose's birthday came around and they had a heart to heart conversation about life and its struggles, opening up to him felt great. He would never hurt her, or would he? They were always talking, always calling, never apart, nothing could go wrong.
Two weeks passed, Calvin and his girlfriend, Judy, were having a lot of problems. They kept breaking up and getting back together and arguing all the time. Calvin would go to Rose and tell her that he was tired of her. “I am so sick and tired of Judy, she doesn’t make me feel loved,” he said. “If you dislike her so much then break up with her” Rose stated. “But I don't want to hurt her, she's sensitive.” Rose rolled her eyes at this. ‘How could you love someone who treats you like that’ she thought. “Do whatever you want Calvin,” she said and then hung up. The next day, Calvin and Judy had broken up officially. The very same day of the break up, Calvin asked Rose out. “Rose, I’ve loved you since the day I first heard of you. You’re so beautiful and smart. Will you be my girlfriend? ”. Rose didn't know how to respond. She didn't see him in a romantic way, but she couldn't say no. She was a bit of a people's pleaser so she agreed to be his girlfriend. She hoped that over time she would learn to love Clavin more than a friend. She would later find out that this was a bad idea…
