Several days later, life fell into a routine, mostly around the small being that was my son. He definitely turned heads. There was good and bad.
My application for a semester break was submitted and the lovely administrators cooed the baby. Sure, they condemned me for not being married, but they were nice enough about it - not that I cared what ajummas had to say about my life.
Fuck 'em! Two baby fingers to the sky - I'll teach him about that later. (chuckles; I'm going to ruin this kid.)
They explained it would take up to a week to process, and they would take care of letting my professors know. Little did they know, I already did. I knew the American bureaucracy was much to be desired - when it worked (once in a blue moon), it worked well. (Hear the eagles scream, while Team America: World Police theme song plays.) I just knew sometimes, "oopies" happened and people fell through the cracks.
Next, I need to work on getting the little guy a doctor, I thought. Ain't no telling when this guy had a checkup.
I sat on a partial wall, in a sunny spot, using my phone. The little shade on the stroller created enough shadow for me to see the search. A few of the posts from the new parents' page pointed out SNUH the most.
"Friendly staff and physicians."
"Always available when an appointment is needed."
"So helpful and saved my mom!"
"Handsome doctors everywhere! I will introduce my daughter to the handsome surgeon who rolled me back to my room!"
I chuckled at that comment. - Somebody come get their mama. -
Joonie's little whimpers brought my attention away from my phone to him. His lips formed the sucking motion. So, I put a binky in his mouth. I forgot to get water and couldn't make him a bottle.
'Come on, little baby boy. We gotta feed you before you scream your war cry..'
It wasn't long until Joonie was out again. He's much like caring for a drunk person. His eyes were always unfocused and half lidded; he cried instead of talked; he wet himself. But his bald head and pruned face made him (and let's not forget his small size) made him easier to deal with that a full-grown person.. or two fighty knuckleheads. Somewhere across campus and working part time, both Tae and Posh felt the urge to sneeze.I chuffed like a proud papa at how quickly I was able to keep him comfortable. He was nearing three weeks and I already noticed a difference to him besides the way formula came out of him. The sensitive brand seemed to be working better for him and I stuck with that for now. A doctor's opinion would be best.
With his diaper now tossed in the appropriate receptacle, I walked him toward the chow hall to meet his "favorite" uncle.
