I'm Okay

⚠️Warning: Death by drowning and PTSD, Flashbacks⚠️

With a blanket over her shoulders M sits on the gazebo soaking wet with a towel over her shoulders. He purple hair soaked too. She is still shaking from the previous event but her friends are sitting by her side.

Danny, Evie, Doug and Ava all rushed to the hospital to get checked out while the rest waited around. M couldn't hear what the others were saying and frankly she was wondering if she shoiud even care.

That was until she heard the adults conversation,

"There's something she's not saying" her mom says.

"You think she's hiding something?" her dad asks.

"I know it." her mom responds, "She saved Danny, but the look on her face when it happened...it was like something flashed before her. Like a past memory."

"Do you think it has to do with something in her childhood?" Adam asks

"Yes I want to talk with her later"

"Well isn't Rapunzel her therapist. You could have her ask. She might be more willing to talk to her" Belle points out.

M gets tired of them talking about her and doesn't want to have to explain this more than she has to,

"I was grounded, in the tower. Mother Gothel and I had another fight about leaving and so I just went to my room. Didi, Sawyer, and Aaron came and I just climbed out my room. I jumped from the window and back then we were also friends with a girl named Maddie, she was girl and she was our group "leader". When I snuck out, we went to the docks behind Ursula's Fish and Chips. 4 teens came up, Shock, Vick, Wallup, and Hammer. I don't know their real names but all I know if they started a fight with us. And you know how groups work, if you mess with one person, you get the whole group..."

M ia having a hard time going, thinking back to that day.

DiDi takes over seamlessly, "And so we were fighting. It was going fine, until someone pushed Maddie into the water. We don't learn how to swim, we just don't and so we - well M and Sawyer jumped in, and they tried to save her. M almost drowned then, but they figured out how to keep afloat long enough to grab Maddie. It was too late though, she was far gone."

*Flashback*

"Maddie!!" M screamed seeing her friend plunge into the water.

"Good luck with that," Hammer cackles.

The gang gives one last last before leaving, as M and Sawyer immediately jump into the water. The water was so cold, freezing perhaps.

"Maddie"

"Maddie!" They call.

M is stuggling trying to find a way to stay afloat.

"Kick your legs" Sawyer yells over, "Move your arms"

In a panic, M tries desperately to swim and find Maddie but looks more like flailing at a desperate attempt to stay alive.

Sawyer swims under the water and comes us with their friend. She didn't look good at all with her blue hue and purple lips.

"Maddie!" M cries out.

Sawyer swims to a section of "land" which was more of a dirt area with a plank ontop. He lays her ontop on the planks and turns to see M barley following. Looking up in a panic, they both catch a glimpse of the other two running down from the other platform, hopping over some of the obstacles. M finally gets to the land and crawls onto it, her wet clothes and all, coughing up some of the water she ate by accident.

"What do we do?" Sawyer asks?"

"I don't know" M cries.

Aaron and DiDi get to them and they continue to think about what to do. DiDi reaches to feel her pulse and she cries with M, "N-no pu-ls-e"

"Yo-u m-e-an.." Sawyer stops.

And M just nods in return.

*End of Flashback*

Aaron picks up the story, "We gave her a proper burial on the Isle. Her parents always blamed us though, mostly M. I don't know why but they thought it was her fault. Mother Gothel found out and she was very angry about it. We didn't see M for 2 months."

"I'm fine with water, but something in M's brain turned on and she's never liked getting too close to water." Sawyer explains, "But she knows how much Danny means to everone so..."

"How did you learn to do CPR?" Belle questions.

"Health class" M states softly.

"It wasn't your fault M," Mal says, looking towards her daughter, "None of you should blame yourselves, no matter what the parents say. It was an accident."

"When did that happen?" Adam asks.

"When we were 10"

Danny is perfectly okay. The doctors ran a bunch of testing and he is okay. He said that without CPR he wouldn't be alive. I am so grateful for M stepping in. She saved my baby boy.
