"Well it was nice seeing you again Uncle Drew. I'll be sure to finish my mission as soon as possible so I may return home." I said. He nodded.

"You know, I'm running a Halfling house and we have a couple rooms left. If you wanna come and stay, I'd be glad to take you there." My stomach growled and I looked down at it, patting it for comfort.

"I haven't had an offer like that in years, in fact, I haven't had anyone to guide me in years."

"Well I'd be glad to take you in. The house may be a little crowded cause we have a little under 50 Halflings living there, but I'm sure no one would mind giving the queen a place to live."

"Awww thank you Uncle Drew, I'll go, as long as you release Louise after I come back to the hospital."

"Will do your highness."

"Thank you Uncle Drew."

"Oh my word, this place is huge! How come the humans haven't found this place yet? Not that they should, but still. It's huge!"

"The guards make sure that the house stays unnoticed and that the humans stay away. It's been quiet on this side of town, so there really isn't any need for attention."

"Wow," I was speechless as we drove up the long drive way and into the large garage.

"Since many of our Halflings are living here because of their wings, we have a higher demand for garage space. I myself am not comfortable letting them go out without defense or wings, but some insist on it, and theres nothing I can do to hold them back."

"Oh I see," I said looking down, "maybe I can do something to re-enforce that?" My uncle looked over at me with a glint of hope in his every.

"You could most certainly try your highness," I nodded and hopped out of the car with a very impatient stomach, "when was the last time you ate your highness?"

"When's the last time I ate or when was my last decent meal?"

"Why your highness-"

"Uncle, please just call me Piper."

"Um, as you wish Miss Piper and your highness, why would you say such a terrible thing?"

"I've been living in a cave in a forest? That's why?"

"Piper I had no idea! I am so sorry."

"Eh, Asi es la vida."

"Hu?"

"Such is life my uncle."

"So, such is life my highness?" My uncle said smirking as he climbed into the driver side of the car.

"No," I looked at him with a half glare as I got in the passenger side of the vehicle, "Such is get me the hell out of here!" I said in a raised tone. He chuckled and drove down the long driveway.

"I'm sorry, I didn't have any warning for you in mind. I didn't know they would be that bad."

"Bad?!" I shouted looking at him traumatized, "They were terrible!!" Again, he laughed at me.

"They were just excited to see you and know that you are indeed alive." I huffed and looked out the side window.

"Oh, they were more than just that." To say that dinner was good, was an understatement. Never have I ever been in such a loud, rambunctious, rude, lively house. To say that I was overwhelmed, well, that's and understatement too. Halflings, with and without wings, of all ages and gender were packed into what looked like a big house from the outside, but in reality, was just ten houses put together with only two floors. I don't know how I am going to stand living in that house for a month, or even a week! I think I'll go insane without my privacy. At least in my little damp cave, I had all the privacy I would ever need. I could eat how I wanted, act how I wanted and walk around naked if I wanted... Ok maybe I went too far with that, but hey, it's something I like doing.

As we pulled up to the hospital I began to get anxious. My uncle, knowing me a little too well, noticed this.

"Piper, are you ok?"

"Uh, y-yeah, I guess you could say that."

"You don't... like Louise do you?"

"No!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, "how could you ever say that?!" He put his hands up in surrender.

"Ok ok ok, sorry, I just didn't know."

"You know that the only person I will ever love is Alice! How could you ever ask me if I could possibly love another girl!? Alice is my one and only! No human could ever replace her!" By now I was fuming. I got out of the car and slammed the door shut. It was then that I realized that there were no buses going on this route on a sunday night. I groaned and got back in the car. My uncle hadn't moved an inch.

"Uncle Drew can I-" He held up the keys and plopped them in my hands.

"Don't worry, I have more cars were this one came from," He looked over at me and smiled, " just don't crash her. And get her home safely, we need you home." I nodded and gave him an awkward side hug.

"Thanks Uncle Drew, you're the best." I said before I jumped out of the car once again awaiting for Louise's departure. My uncle was right behind me and sped ahead of me once the elevator dinged to a stop. I watched him go in her room and talk to her. With my supernatural hearing, I could hear her say some words, words such as family, home, out of state and so on and so forth. Her voice came out of her like honey dripping out of a bees nest. It was so sweet and thick and-

I shook my head violently. No, bad Piper, Alice is yours, this pathetic human is not. Even if I liked this human, which I clearly do not! I would never ever date her or be her mate. No no no no. Never ever ever.

Through the small window next to the door, I could see her look down and look back up saying that she didn't have a ride home and was wondering if she could spend the rest of the night here. My uncle shook his head no, bless his soul, and pointed to the door. My eyes connected with hers and I quickly looked away. I felt my heart tug out against my chest. Why was I so drawn to her? What is it about this one? Well she probably looks like Alice, that's why.... But Alice had brown eyes and tan skin, brown hair and a smaller bust, a harder smile and.... oh for crying out loud!

The door finally opened and she walked out. My heart stopped and my breath was taken from me. She was in her clothes she wore when I pushed her off that darn bike. Too bad that's totaled. I said to myself snickering. But even with all the countless tears and holes in her shirt, coat and pants, I still couldn't get over how beautiful she was.

"Hey, um, Piper?" She said in a questioning tone.

"Hey uh, yup that's me." I said giving her a lined smile. Why is this awkward? This shouldn't be awkward. Come on Piper, lock up that weak heart of yours.

"Ok, I got it right, I wasn't sure if that was your name or not cause I didn't remember for a second."

"Oh no that's fine." I said nervously. I looked over at my Uncle Drew and he gave me a nod. Great, cause that's a great hint uncle. yeah cause that helps a lot.

"Oh um ok," is she lesbian or something? "Well, um, it's heard that you're giving me a ride home?"

"Yup, that's me." I said with a  small smile on my face. This was going to be an awkward ride.
