There's nothing I'd like less in the world then to go to school today, but my grandpa is right it's too early in the year to miss a day. Bonnie picks me and Elena up per usual, but the car ride is kind of awkward the entire time. Bonnie can't seem to shake the feeling she got from Stefan last night and I don't blame her, however I think it's partially unfair. I havent seen Elena so happy since her parents died and I definitely haven't seen her this into a guy. When she was with Matt it was painfully obvious that she wasn't as into it as he was. Honestly every moment they were together felt like she was searching for an out.
"I'm not saying you shouldn't date him im just saying maybe take it slow" Bonnie expresses her concern as she gets out of the car.
"I love that you're concerned for me Bonnie but I'm happy, and Stefan's big part of that."
"I accidentally touched Stefan and I got this really weird feeling.."
"That's it? That's why?" Elena honestly seems confused, and I can understand why. I probably would have the same reaction if I didn't literally abracadabra the mirror at the grill last night. Stefan really has great timing because he pops up right before Bonnie can say anymore."Hey Stefan" Elena grins, but Bonnie looks immediately uncomfortable.
"I've gotta go find Caroline." She gives a false smile and walks away.
"She really doesn't not like me."
"She just doesn't know you." I try to cover for her. I got the same feeling off of him but honestly I get a similar feeling off of Elena sometimes. I think maybe that's jus grief, he lost both of his parents. He's a little sketchy but aren't all new kids?
"We've been friends forever she's just looking out for me. Once she gets to know you she will love you."Elena takes his hand and begins walking. I hate third wheeling but I don't wanna make them feel bad after Bonnie's quick escape."Here's what we're gonna do, are you free tonight?"
Stefan smiles and thinks, "yes."
"Perfect. Dinner my house, 8 o'clock you me and Bonnie. She'll get to see what a great guy you are."
"Ruby and I actually discussed maybe the three of us getting together so I could get to know her friends, maybe tell her about her family history. Maybe she could come?"
"Of course, if you want to" Elena responds to Stefan turning to me expectedly.
"Yes that sounds good." I actually do think it's a good idea. "Matt and Tyler are staring at us" I whisper to Elena.
"I don't know what I can do to make it better. He's one of my oldest friends." Elena frowns.
"I understand more then you would know" this causes a confused look on Elena's face and I remember I haven't gotten to tell her about me and Tyler's moment in his car. Before I can tell her I see a football plummeting towards Stefan's head. "Oh Stefan! Watch-" but my warning is useless because Stefan turns around catches the football inches from his face. Definitely impressive. Elena could not blush any harder. The bell rings and I rush inside.
I planned on telling Bonnie about the letters, I actually brought them to school with me but Bonnie seems off all day.  Frequently spacing out and doodling all day.
After school I have volleyball practice and im actually excited about it for once. I've been so stressed that I've kind of been going through practice on auto pilot but I have a game on Saturday and it's against our biggest rival. I run laps and spike balls, the whole bit.
"Nice to see you back in the game Noyes!" The coach calls after I just dominated by jump serve. I forgot how much I love athletic validation. I've never been good at school, solid c student but I excel at sports. It feels good to be good at something.  As a result of practice I'm all gross and sweaty, which means I've gotta get home and shower for the dinner, I've also got at least an hours worth of homework to do, oh and I'm also exhausted. Not that I need a reason to not wanna run into Tyler. I can see the cheer and football teams getting out of practice, and as much as I'm tempted to seek out Caroline Bonnie and Elena, I already know how that ends so  I start jogging home.

I'm running late to Elena's house because I desperately needed a nap, and a shower which both happen to be time consuming. Bonnie's already at Elena's but I don't see Stefan so I'm not that late. Elena opens the door in a fit of laughter.
"Bonnie was just telling me how you two are witches" I laugh with her, despite the how uncomfortable it was.
I haven't really known what to make of all of this, and I haven't had time to tell Bonnie about it. I walk in and set my bag down before making my way to the table.
"This looks good Lena."
"Its takeout" Bonnie laughs.
"Figured it was better then me charring dinner"
"Definitely." I take a seat, we're waiting for Stefan. "So I need to tell you something Elena and don't be upset I didn't say anything sooner we've both just been really preoccupied." She looks nervous but nods. "Tyler was giving me a ride home from school and he kissed me and I kissed him back, but I don't actually feel that way about him so now he hates me"
Her jaw drops and she laughs. "So you really do understand my Matt situation." Me bonnie and Elena are all laughing and I suddenly feel bad that Stefan was invited to this dinner and not Caroline. Its not really her fault she's acting out like this.  "Soo, was it good."
"I am not answering that Elena."
"So it was."
"Not you too Bonnie!" Finally Stefan rings the bell.
"Saved by the literal bell" bonnie laughs as Elena grabs the door.
"Hey stefan"
"Hey ruby." Hes typical facial expression is deadpan but also smiling, which is slightly concerning.
"Ruby was just telling us how much she loves Tyler." Elena teases.
"That is not what was happening."
"Tyler doesn't seem to like me." Stefan inquires.
"That because he's best-friends with Matt."
Bonnie is silent during the entire conversation.
"Oh my god Bonnie you should've seen it Tyler threw a ball straight at Stefan hea-"
"Yea I heard." Bonnie completely interrupts Elena and keeps playing with her pasta. Tension fills the air.
"Ok.. Bonnie and Ruby both have very Interesting family's. Tell him about it."
She's clearly reaching for conversation.
"Divorced parents, no mom, live with dad." Bonnie replies dryly. Obviously that's not what Elena meant, Stefan pretends to be interested but he knows that's not what Elena meant too.
"No about the witches.." now Stefan's intrigued, who wouldn't be. Its definitely an odd remark. "Bonnie and Ruby both come from a lineage of witches. It really cool."
"I wouldn't describe it as cool."
"Well it's certainly interesting, I know that Celtic dryads migrated here."
"My family came by way of Salem." Bonnie corrects.
"Both of my family's are supposedly witches. My mothers side comes from New Orleans and my fathers from Salem."
"Really? Salem witches."
"Yea" Bonnie smiles, the air lightens a little. Thank god.
"Id say that's pretty cool" Stefan smiles, and so doesn't Elena because she can sense the tension alleviating too.
"Really? Why?"
"Salem witches are heroic examples of individualism. And nonconforming. New Orleans witches are powerful, even stubborn. Its very interesting."
"I take it you like history" I smile to Stefan.
"I do. Especially local."
"You should've seen him in history today he schooled Mr. Tanner." Elena laughs.
"It was pretty cool" Bonnie admits.
"I hate not having any classes with you guys"
"Sorry Rubes" suddenly the bell rings again.
"Are we expecting anyone?" Bonnie asks.
"Not that I know of." Elena opens the door to Caroline standing there holding dessert.
"You guys are totally leaving me out" Caroline laughs handing the dessert to Elena and walking inside. Behind her there's a man. Id be lying if I said he wasn't hot. He's a few inches taller then me, with pale skin, black hair, and blue eyes. Like incredibly blue.
"Who is that" I whisper to Bonnie.
"Caroline's boy toy of the month aka Stefan's brother."
"Oh my god."
"What are you doing here." Stefan looks angry.
"Guess they're not close."
"Nope" Bonnie replies.
"Waiting for Elena to invite me in." Stefan's brother responds.
"Oh yea you ca-"
"No. He can't come in." Stefan interrupts in a panic. "He can't stay. Can you Damon?" I take it his name is Damon. We all sit in silence for a moment.
"Its fine just come on in." Elena smiles opening the door wider for him.  Stefan bows his head. Damon starts making meaningless chit chat with Elena.
