Micah and I biked for about half an hour when he stopped suddenly, and he suddenly announced that he could not continue and told me to leave him. I put up my kickstand and went over to see what was wrong. I finally got over there. I saw Micah lying on the road.
"Why are you lying on the ground? Also, you're the one giving me directions. How could I leave you?"
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that," He replied, still on the road. "Well, I can't keep riding. My lungs feel like I smoked 4 packs of cigarettes a day for 30 years!"
"How would you - you know what, never mind, you need to get up or else someone's going to hit you!" I said, losing my patience.
"Nope!" He said stubbornly, "I physically can't!" By then, he got on my last nerve, so I did the rational thing... I kicked him in the ribs.
"OW!1!111!" He yelled, "Now it's up to 8 packs! Thanks a lot!" I held out my hand, and he reluctantly grabbed it.
"I think now that I'm kind of over the shock of this whole elf thing, I can ask the one question that still perplexes me," I said, worried about whether I could handle the answer, "How-
"Old am I? Well, I'm actually -"
"No, it was ho -"
"To make chez fondue?"
"NO, HOW-"
"To meet Mark Zuckerberg?
"NO, HOW DOES THIS WHOLE CITY FITS INSIDE OF A FOREST!" I said, annoyed at how much I was being interrupted.
"Oh, Well, that's simple, this forest is some ancient sacred ground that everyone thought was magic (in hindsight it obviously wasn't, magic is more magical, duh!), but it turns out that this is just the land where the Elven and human realms converge. The forest is like a TARDIS, bigger on the inside. There's some weird and complicated calculations involved, but all I understand is that this forest is where the human and elf worlds kind of meet and its like the best of both worlds all in this one spot! When it was first discovered, tons of pioneers settled here and founded the city."
"Ummm, that makes no sense at all, but it is somehow the most normal thing I have heard since I woke up in the woods," I replied, "That is very concerning." We continued to ride until we approached a large castle, with a large stone wall surrounding it. It had a dark green roof with many tall towers. On each side of the castle, there was a stable. There was even a draw-bridge! Below the bridge was a moat with many large horned crocodiles, unlike anything I had ever seen! As we approached, we saw a large gate, closely guarded by two large muscular guards on identical black stallions. They had silver whistles around their necks. Someone ahead of us in a black cloak tried to get past them. They grabbed him by the armpits and threw him into the moat, and went back to their positions. They parted as soon as they saw Micah. We rode on through the gates
"Dude, what was that?" I said
"My father owns this place, so they don't really care about me or who I bring with me." He said, as if he hadn't just seen a guy get dumped into a moat filled with mutant crocodiles!
"But they're gonna eat him!"
"Nah, he's not a threat to security, just a beggar. The Crocs are trained to ignore anything that's not dead yet unless the guards blow the whistle," He explained, "Now let's go, we're almost here!"
