Noon came at the school cafeteria and Dahlia couldn't afford for her lunch.

-"Get in the line, dweeb."

Dahlia looked back shyly, seeing a slightly taller, slender, blue haired girl smiling at her. It was her best friend Alex. Dahlia was relieved, and Alex playfully gave her a hug.

-"Come on girl! They got pizza today!"

-"I can't... I'm short of money, plus I'm not so..."

Dahlia was interrupted by two dollars that Alex pulled out from her pocket. She felt relieved, and quickly smiled.

-"God, you really know how to save a life."

-"Well it is my duty, Dahlia."

-"You're my hero."

-"And you can be too, fellow citizen."

-"Is this the part where I kiss you now?"

Alex looks surprised and pushes Dahlia away.

-"Ewww!!! No! Gross!"

Dahlia laughed, and took the two dollars from Alex.

-"I'm joking, I'm joking. I know you'll beat the crap out of me."

-"And if you dare put your tongue in, I will stab you"

-"You wouldn't, you love me." Dahlia smiled innocently at Alex.

-"Yeah, I love you.... And hate you." Alex shoves Dahlias head aside, and laughs. -"Come on, we gotta eat."

Alex dragged Dahlia to the lunch line, where each got their slices of pizza and drinks.

-"So how's your day going so far?" Says Alex as they both sit down to eat.

-"Not so good actually. Missed the bus, had to walk here, the teacher kicked me out of the room."

-"Ouch, that must hurt."

-"Not as much as what happened before the kicking."

-"What happened?"

-"Ugh, miss Rutherford made me say that phrase like I was 6... And in English that idiot Zeke spit a gum on my English class book. I got so furious I just shut the book to beat him and when I opened it, it got worse..."

-"Woah... Is the gum like, in the subject?"

-"Yes! And the teacher didn't bother to give me a copy of the book."

-"Well that's a harsh move...."

-"I just hate this school, that's all."

-"You and me both.... Tell you what, how about I copy some pages to give 'em to ya."

-"No... It's not really worth the trouble, I can handle it."

-"No, I can handle it, just leave it to me."

-"Sure?"

-"Positively sure."

-"Surely sure?"

-"Positively surely sure."

-"Surely sure you are sure?"

-"Goddammit Dahlia, yes! I swear to God!"

Both girls laugh as they have their lunch, that is until Dahlia gets hit in the head with a passerby's lunch tray. It was Zeke. The drink fell on Dahlia, and Zeke couldn't help but laugh."

-"Oh! 3 points!"

Zeke high fives Kyle, while Dahlia tried to clean herself up. Alex stands up and shoves Zeke away.

-"Just leave her alone! That's strike 2, you don't wanna hit the third one."

-"Actually I kinda do."

Zeke shoves Alex, and she was on the verge of punching him, but Dahlia held her arm.

-"Alex, it isn't worth it, please..."

She looked at Dahlia, dropped her fist and glared at Zeke.

-"Just leave us alone, you jerk!"

-"You know we won't."

Zeke and Kyle left with devilish smiles, and the girls sat back down at their table.

-"Sorry... I..."

-"It's ok, girl, breathe...."

Alex takes a deep breath, calming down.

-"I literally hate everyone here... Why can't they just leave us alone?"

-"Probably cause..."

-"Cause what?"

-"Nothing..."

-"We're different, right?"

-"Yeah... That."

-"Dahlia, people always hate us cause of that, but at least we aren't like them. You know? We aren't THAT common."

-"Yeah.... Good point..."

-"Besides, different is sexy, right? I mean look what Lady Gaga wore back then."

-"Like that dress full of frogs?"

-"Exactly. And that was sexy. So maybe this blue hair is sexy, these studded bracelets are sexy. Hell... Maybe my flat butt is sexy."

Dahlia laughs as Alex stands up and shows off her butt.

-"Yeah, model quality butt you have there."

-"Big Momma ain't got nothing on this."

Alex laughs, then embarrassingly sits down. As she does, Dahlia punches her shoulder. Every time whenever conflict happens, Alex is always the one who makes Dahlia feel better, always finishing up with jokes while giving some words of wisdom. The two finish up their lunches to head back to class, and on the hallway they playfully shove each other.
