Chapter 7

The Crotious Duchy was in chaos due to the shenanigans that happened during dinner. The very next morning, the duke and Saviro immediately headed to the palace to demand an explanation.

It was said that the sacred scroll, containing the prophecy, had lit up and informed the head priest of the whereabouts of the saintess. Which led to Ophelia being captured

"Although..." I took a sip of the cup "In my book, a mere servant of the temple was supposed to find the scroll glowing and not the head priest.... So why? Is there something that I did to make this happen?"

I shook my head and dismissed my thoughts. 'I'm probably reading of it too much.'

I placed the cup on my saucer and called on Annie, a replacement for Ophelina. The thing is Annie... She's...

"My lady!" The excited girl came inside "You called?" She said. 'I miss the quiet and reserved Ophelina.' I inwardly cried.

"Annie, do me a favor and get me a cloak," I said.

'I need to meet someone in the town square.'

"Okay, young lady. However, what are going to do?" Annie asked, her ruby eyes glinting.

I thought about it for a moment... "Visiting... A friend."

'I guess I could call him a friend, after all, he's my boyfriend.'

'Not mine mine, but Safforina's.'

The wind chimes bumped with each other after the door to an old shop opened, revealing a visitor.

"Safforina?!" A man with striking blue eyes seems to light up the room, while his golden locks are the envy of all who lay eyes on it. He greeted her with a smile on his face.

His chiseled physique exudes strength and confidence, and his sun-kissed complexion only adds to his rugged good looks. This man is not just handsome, he's downright captivating.

Befitting a true royal.

'Of course, he doesn't know that yet.'

"Eric!" I squealed and jumped into his arms.

The man she was hugging was none other than the lost prince of the Verdius Empire. He was practically Safforina's scapegoat.

Her plan B.

While she was done chasing after a man, she returned to this small shop to embrace another.

'Can't believe I made such a horrible cheater.'

If Safforina ever lost Prince Alex to her saintess sister, then she would use Eric to become the empress of the Verdius Empire.

Why was she so sure that Eric would choose her as empress? Because she brainwashed him.

'She used black magic. She was Ophelina's polar opposite for Christ's sake.'

Ironically, her being empress did not happen. Why? Because after she revealed Eric was the lost prince, he completely abandoned her for Ophelina, who undid her brainwashing.

He played the role of truth messenger, delivering hard evidence of every single misdeed Safforina did on a silver platter - a feat that she couldn't even deny.

And I refuse to meet that demise. I'll break free and embrace a life that's free from the shackles of fear that death will come knocking on my door.

Which is why...

"We need to break up."
