After school that day, Monique and Lanea walked home. "Hey girl, I'm sorry about your mom, I hope they catch him!"
"Yeah, I know she will be okay, I pray she comes home soon, but you know what? I'll be okay. Thanks Mo." Realizing that the Seniors are leaving, she starts to feel sad and depressed because she has to say goodbye to Sean. She dreaded that moment. As soon as she got home she decided to hop into the shower, it was yet another hot day, signifying that summer is quickly approaching. After taking her shower she dried off and realized that she forgot her clothes "MOTHA FUHH!!...." She sighed and stated under her breath. "ugh! story of my life!" she mumbled as she wrapped herself up in her towel and grabbed her shampoo bottle. She tried to rush into Monique's room without being seen but as soon as she thought that she was in the clear, Sean runs into her accidentally causing her to drop her shampoo bottle. He just stood there dumbstruck; She crouched down to pick it up and finds him still standing there, staring.
She felt her cheeks get hot as she began to blush. She looks down at the bottle then back up at him clearly beyond the breaking point right now.
"Uh..hi." She says, smiling shyly.
Sean snaps out of it and says 'hi' back.
"Soooo...." she says awkwardly.
"Umm...soooooo..."
"Oh, yeah this is awkward." She says grinning but clearly embarrassed at how long this moment is lasting right now.
"Wow!....uh I guess so, Uh well umm. I'm gonna let you go.....I'll see you l-later." I replies finally coming back to reality.
"Yeah.....I guess I'll uh see you later." She replies and quickly rush pass him and towards the room.
'Oh my gosh I can't believe that just happened!' Lanea thought to herself as she finished getting dressed. Moments later she hears loud music coming from Sean's room. The music stops and is followed by a male voice singing. Instantly mesmerized, she had to find out who it was that was singing. She creeps down the hallway towards his room soon finding out that it was Sean singing all along. Of all the years she's know him, she never knew he could sing so well. She would hear him play around and sing in a joking manner but never like this. She leaned against the door frame in awe, utter shock, dumbstruck, admiring his beautiful voice. It was soulful, full of emotion, crisp it was perfect. As soon as his song was coming to a finish, he turns around and smiles when he sees her standing there.
"Oh, I didn't hear you come in." He said as he sat on his bed. She came along and sat next to him.
"Yeah, sorry I'm pretty light on my feet, But wow! Sean your voice sounds amazing this is really a pleasant surprise."
"Well thank you Lanea, you sound good too." He replies with a smirk. She looks at him confused as he continues.
"Yep, I heard you in the shower miss rock star. You don't sound bad at all!" The both bust out laughing then.
"Yeah right Sean, I don't think so. I mean I used to sing and loved it but not anymore...Ever since my dad started drinking and has all those mood swings I stopped because he started telling me how much of a failure I am, how much I'm not good enough. He started abusing me and putting me down; he shattered all of my dreams. But one of these days, I will start singing again."
They both were quiet for a while. Lanea never told anyone what happened behind closed doors even to Monique, at least not everything. In a way she felt better to finally tell someone; to vent.
"I hope its soon because I would love to hear you sing for me.....promise?" He replied with a smirk.
"Okay Sean I promise I will sing for you one day....oh and about earlier with the uh....shower thing? lets act like it never happened, okay?"
