It had been surprisingly simple getting Yuto, Yuri, and Yugo enrolled in Maiami Second Junior High School. They had been assigned to Yuya's class, which made all four of the counterparts quite happy. After a bit of surprise and commotion from the other students, the three of them had settled in, and were now sitting in desks around Yuya.
They were currently in the middle of a math lesson, but neither Yugo nor Yuya were really paying attention. Yuya was half-asleep, since he found math lessons to be incredibly boring. Meanwhile Yugo was staring out the window next to his desk, watching a few birds fighting over a piece of bread. He couldn't help giggling when one of the birds stole the bread right out of another bird's beak.
"Yugo!" the teacher snapped, causing all four counterparts to jump. The teacher glared at Yugo. "Judging by your laughter, I assume you find this lesson ridiculously easy? Why don't you come to the board and solve this problem, then!"
Yugo's eyes widened, but he had no choice but to get up from his seat and make his way to the board. He stared at the problem written on it. (3+9)5÷(4+1)-9 He had no idea what this even was, much less the answer!
Cough cough cough
The sound of coughing distracted him a bit, but he tried to ignore it.
Cough cough cough
"Yuri, are you ok?" the teacher asked the Fusion counterpart, who was the one coughing. Yuri nodded, and the teacher turned back to Yugo.
Cough cough cough
Ok, Yugo was now sure that Yuri was doing that on purpose. Trying to distract him, no doubt.
Cough cough cough
Yugo glared at Yuri at the last coughing fit. Before he could turn back to the board, however, he noticed the cabbage subtly flash three fingers. Wait... three fingers... three coughs at a time... was Yuri trying to tell him that the answer to the problem on the board was three? Yugo turned back to the board and, after a moment's hesitation, wrote 3 under the problem.
"That's... correct..." the teacher said reluctantly. "Now go sit down, and don't interrupt my class again."
Yugo hurried back to his seat in relief, glancing back at Yuri as he passed him. Yuri had helped him? That was... unexpected... but not unwelcome.

"I HECKING HATE MATH!" Yugo groaned, slouching in his chair. It was after school and he was in the counterparts' bedroom trying to do his homework, but he just couldn't figure out the answers to the problems. Why the heck did math have to be so needlessly complicated? And he couldn't just use a calculator, because the stupid calculator didn't have the parentheses or tiny numbers.
"Having trouble?" Yuri asked, leaning on the doorway. Yugo shrieked and fell out of his seat, having not noticed the cabbage's arrival. Yuri chuckled and walked over to him. "Need help?"
Yugo blushed and climbed back into his seat. He was silent for a few moments, before mumbling, "...Yes..."
Yuri pulled up a seat and sat down next to Yugo. He began walking the blunana through the steps of each problem, one by one. He was surprisingly patient with Yugo, helping him find the answers and never once getting annoyed when the Synchro counterpart got an answer wrong. It took an hour for Yugo to finish his homework, but by the time he did he had a slightly better understanding of the process.
