"Here take this Alina," I said handing her the extra kefta Aleksander had given me.
She took it and offered me a soft smile. As she was putting it on I noticed she winced in pain, she must have done something to her shoulder on the skiff.
"I can help you if you want, I'm a healer."
She nodded so I started to work. She looked amazed that I could heal with a flick of my hands.
"If you think this is cool Alina just wait till you see what you can truly do."
She frowned at this and looked down at the floor. "That's just it, I'm not supposed to be able to do any of this."
I was about to reassure her but I was met with Ivan holding a hand up.
The carriage came to a sudden stop and the two heartrenders rose to their feet.
"Both of you stay hidden inside, this could be a trap," Ivan said as he jumped out of the carriage.
I gave Fedyor a look of worry and he gave me one back of comfort.
"Everything will be fine Aurora, I promise." He told me as he followed Ivan and locked the door behind him.
Alina looked at me worried and I gave her one back. I was only a healer I could only help people not harm them. Even if I was something more I'm not sure I could hurt anyone. Alina put a hand on my shoulder and gave a comforting squeeze.
Just then the door to the carriage was broke open and I felt something grab me by my ankles. Me and Alina were dragged out of the carriage by something. I looked around and realized we had been attacked.
Fjerdans.
They were back, after I had finally escaped them they were back. And there was nobody to protect me now.
I saw Alina being dragged the opposite direction from me before I was slammed on the ground by a fjerdan man
My head hit the dirt and my hearing and vision went blurry. I could hear the sounds of screaming and Alina's begging.
"Witch."
There it was again the word I had heard all my life. The word I had been called all my life. The only thing I had known myself as for years. The words that haunted my dreams, the words that had cost me so many bruises, cuts, beatings. I felt something in me change, I couldn't explain what but something snapped. Instead of the sounds of Alina's screaming I heard the sound of blood thrumming and hearts beating. It sounded like a drum, one in particular. I grabbed out for it, I called for it. I took it's life, it shriveled, it went quiet, and so did everything else, the thrumming of blood, the sounds of the fjerdan, and the sound of the mans breathing.
Only then did I notice the man's grip on me went limp, and the sound of his choking. Blood poured from his mouth

"You're okay, I'm here now," he said holding me.
I still couldn't process what had happened. They were back and they knew I was alive. They would come again, and then there would be nobody left to help me.
"Ivan!" I heard him call.
I heard the sound of footsteps running over. I heard the sound of mumbling before I began to feel myself getting tired.
"It's okay Aurora you're safe now," Someone said before I blacked out.
