It was completely dark outside, the only source of light inside the home being the lit candles scattered around the livingroom. It was mostly silent in the house, sinc the people who vacated it should of been asleep at this time... But not one person. Or rather alternate.

The mysterious figure had finished lighting the last candle in the room, leaving the room dim and comforting despite the rumbling thunder and heavy rain that was heard through the walls. When he waved his hand and put out the match, the man turned his body over to the small child on the couch.

Before he could even make an attempt to speak, a flash of lightning was seen though the window; followed by the loud crack and roar of thunder. Making the child scream.

"Hey, hey..." The man rushed over, sitting down on the couch and opening up his arms for the child. They immediately crawled into his arms and sat on his lap. "It's okay, it's okay... You're alright, [Y/N]. It's just a little thunder."

[Y/N] sniffled with a soft sigh and a small whine, burying their head into the fabric of the alternate's hoodie.

"I'm... I'm scared..." They whimpered, turning their head up to stare at him, tiny tears forming into their eyes.

"I know you are," He spoke soothingly, shifting their position slightly to be more comfortable in his spot, "But it'll be alright. The power will come back on soon, and you have me; Six."

[Y/N] just sniffled softly, letting out a soft sigh as they tried to calm down. They reached their hand up and palmed at their eyes, trying to wipe the tears away to the best of their abilities. Eventually, they rested their head back on Six's chest and closed their eyes, trying to soothe themself.

"I wish daddy was as nice as you..." They'd mumble softly, with just tugged at Six's heart... if he had one, that is.

"That's because he isn't a kind man. He's selfish like the rest of them." He said flatly, yet in a reassuring manner as he placed a hand on the top of [Y/N]'s head and gently pet their hair in a soothing manner.

The child hummed softly, their thoughts being drowned out by the heavy rain on the roof and the wind outside. But, one thought did come to them. "Am I like daddy?"

"No." He quickly said, his voice laced with sweetness and slight sadness at the question. But he knew it was just a question. "You're pure. A grace. Nothing like the adults..."

"Aren't you an adult?" They'd tilt their heas to the side.

"I'm hundreds of years old."

"Wooow!" [Y/N] gasped, "So like a great grandpa?"

"Older then that."

"So a great, great, great, great, great-" They continued this for about a minute until Six put a finger to the child's lips with a shushing motion, his eyebrows slightly furrowed but not in anger.

"You could say that."

Another clap of thunder was heard outside and [Y/N] didn't scream this time, but instead just jolted violently. Six raised a hand and stroked their hair, humming with a sympathetic frown as he pulled the childs body closer and rubbed their back.

It was silence for a few long minutes, the two of them just laying peacefully and listening to the sound of the heavy rain. But eventually, Six spoke up in a soft voice.

"Do you want to know what I do when I'm feeling scared?" He never did, it was mostly impossible for him to experience it, but it was his nurturing side (which developed over time from his handling of children) that wanted to come out and help out [Y/N].

The child lifted their head and shook no, small tears still apparent in their eyes from being scared. Six smiled softly in response.

"I close my eyes and think of the rain as music. And the big boom of thumber is just God clapping to the beat." What's one way to soothe a child about storms? Just tell them that it's associated with God. They don't know better.

[Y/N] pondered this for a moment, before letting out a hum of relied and rested their head on Six's chest and closed their eyes, letting themself soak in the sounds and pictured it as something nice rather than terrifying... They still jolted at the thunder, but it wasn't as bad as before.

This pleased Six, seeing the child be more content made him feel relaxed since he was able to help his favorite kid. He'd close his eyes as well and relaxed his body, picturing the same things with [Y/N] just cause it was rather peaceful. He was going to stay there the entire night, or at least until the rain stopped. But leave soon so he wasn't jumped by the kid's parents because "a stranger is touching my child!!".

But, soon enough, [Y/N] drifted off to sleep and the storm finally settled a few minutes after. So, Six took that as his ticket to leave - not before he left a small lollipop and a note for the child when they woke up.
