The first thing he registered was the feeling of someone touching their shoulder lightly.

"I already bought this month's weapons, Seteth."

Byleth probably fell asleep on his desk again and Seteth was "confronting him" (drilling him to see all tasks were completed and lecture if they weren't).

Yeah, that's it.

Goddess! Divine Pulsing literal decades was tiring.

Light murmurs followed his conclusion, quickly bringing him alarm.

That voice was not Seteth.

He jumped up, quickly regretting it as he felt the sun burn his eyes and sharp pieces of rock scrape against his skin.

"Who..." He blinked and let his eyes adjust.

Only to be met with a land he had never seen in his entire life.

Large buildings made of metal and glass seemed to attempt to reach the Goddess' fabled Blue Star. Colorful squares that would occasionally light up on the buildings showcasing bright moving images.

But even more odd was the smell, the air was mixed in with hints of smoke and ash feeling dirty and like poison in his lungs. Even 'industrialized factories' used for the creation of monstrous automatons in the Empire weren't this contaminated.

"Hello, sir?"

Byleth turned to the voice.

***

Asuka was tired, her boss was an asshole, her car had broken down, and she narrowly avoided getting evicted.

(Granny Hana was an angel, Asuka swore she'd pay extra even if it was not required)

But this! This had to surely take the cake!

Maybe it was an intake of coffee, but she swore she just say a blinding flash in the Alley near her cousin's office.

What was even crazier... she like a suicidal maniac entered it regardless.

Maybe Granny Hana was right, she had no self-preservation instincts.

But it is too late for regrets now.

Slowly she made her way to the alley, narrowly avoiding stepping on a suspicious-looking puddle and right in front of a sleeping cosplayer.

The man sleeping had a pale face and hair that was mix of blue and green his features screamed foreigner. His clothing was a strangely layered black cloak held together by a latex-y looking corset with a gold pin.

(He also had a sword that convincingly looked like a spinal cord, but Asuka wanted to sleep tonight so rightfully chose to ignore it.)

God what kind of Chunni had she stumbled upon?!

She clenched her fists, she had to be assertive and brave!

She knelt down and with a very mature squeak she poked the man's shoulder.

Nothing.

She poked again.

Nothing.

This then happened around 7 more times before the man finally stirred.

"I already bought this month's weapons, Seteth." The man muttered, and despite his foreign features the man spoke perfect Japanese.

'Weapons?!'

"Wait! I-i-I'm sorry! Please don't kill me please I haven't even married yet!"

"Who..."

As if a switch turned on the man jumped up quickly, flinching slightly at the burning sun and the scrapping of his skin against pavement.

'R-right it's the middle of the day! If this man does anything I can just scream!'

The man's vision adjusted, and he looked around wonder and confusion showing all over his face. It was kind cute, the man looked like a profoundly serious person, but with the barely disguised wonder Asuka found herself reminded of a curious cat.

"Hello, sir?"

"Where am I?" He asked.

"Toyko! Welcome to-"

"Where is that?"

... had the man not done research before he came here?

"Japan."

"... Where in Fodlán is Japan?"

Okay, maybe she was just as bad at Geography as this man because she had never even heard of Fodlan in her life.

...

"Um... I don't know where Fodlán is..."

The man's eyes widened.

"I see." He looked serious... too serious she was going to die!

"What is your name?"

"Watanabe Asuka."

"Byleth Eisner, it's a pleasure." The man introduced himself standing up.

'Ok maybe he isn't so bad-'

Static boomed into Asuka's ears and she found herself doubling over in pain.

"Ack!"

[THE FREE SERVICE OF THE 8612TH PLANETARY SYSTEM HAS COME TO AN END.}

[THE MAIN SCENERIO WILL BEGIN NOW.]

She glared at the source of the pain, a strange looking red screen that looked like something out of those web novels her cousin was so fond of.

More static, as if the screen had felt her glare and took offense.

"#$JnecW@"

'Just destroy my eardrums at this point!'

"Ahem, apologies it seems some bugs are messing with the stream." Spoke a voice, condescending as if it were talking to a particularly dense child.

The terrible noise subsided, leaving her painting and sighing in relief.

"Due to technical difficulties an extra 30 seconds will be given for the future incarnations recovery."

'30 seconds...?' With the way her head was throbbing she didn't know if she could recover in 30 minutes.

Still, she squinted her eyes and risked looking up... to see a cloud?

A fluffy looking grey creature with horns that spindled like a ram and was draped in a reddish-brown cloth.

[The Constellation 'Avidly spanning the Truth' finds this stream slow.]

The creature only huffed.

"I'd think that as gods who look at decades as if mere breaths would have enough patience to wait half a minute."

[The Constellation 'Cultivating Michief' wishes to remind that if this dokkaebi wishes to move up the world they need to know the value of their customers.]

"Well, it's a good thing I was born without the ambition needed for such a wish."

Asuka looked at the fluffy-haired creature in slight admiration, she had no idea what was going on, but she could admire anything with the guts to stick it to the man.

[The Constellation 'Cultivating Mischief' is stunned.]

The 'dokkaebi' then turned to Asuka and sighed.

"The 30 seconds are up." It stated rather plainly.

A screen appeared in front of her and in a split second all hell broke loose.

(A.N: I had conflicting feelings on whether I should but Byleth straight in the subway or in a different part of Seoul, but then the conflict of language barriers came up and I was like no. Writing dialogue is a lot easier than making a realistic game of charades between different characters, and if I did charades it would make the chapters more about the miscommunications than the actual plot. As for why I picked Japan was because Fire Emblem is a game that came from Japan and the continent of Fodlan has no real-world connections (according to multiple sources). Based on the names and clothing I would have assumed Europe somehow specifically Germany, Ireland, and UK. However, there isn't much mentioned about those countries in the ORV novel, so Japan was the best bet.)
