BROOKE STOOD IN her tiny little corner store. She was waxing her surf board when the bell chimed. She looked up and saw JJ. Brooke set the wax that he requested down on the counter. "Enjoy." She mumbled and walked back over to her board.
"Brooke, listen to me, okay? I needed to do it." JJ tried to reason with her. "I needed to use the-" Brooke quickly covered his mouth. JJ furrowed his brows. Brooke glanced down an aisle and pulled him into the back. "Woah, take me to dinner first."
Brooke sighed and looked away from him. "You need to understand that people other than me and the others saw you with the gun. Meaning, people are going to talk about last night." Brooke explained. JJ nods.
The counter bell began ringing rapidly. Brooke groaned. "I'll be right there!" She told them. They didn't stop ringing it. Brooke walked out with JJ behind her. She looked at the counter and saw Topper, Kelce, and Rafe. She pushed JJ back into the back room and pressed her finger against his lips. "Stay quiet." She whispered.
Brooke walked out and looked at the three. "What were you doing back there?" Topper asks her, looking over the counter. Brooke scoffed and held up a box of wax.
"Restocking." She tells them, placing it on the counter. "Anymore questions, officers?" She questions. The three share a look. "You Powerpuff Girls are something else." She laughed, shaking her head.
Brooke walked out from behind the counter. She grabbed the box and walked over to the shelves. She began placing wax onto the shelf. She watched them walk out of the store. Brooke walked back behind the counter and into the back room. Brooke huffed and put the box down. "You hide all your flings in this room?" JJ smirked.
Brooke scoffed out a laugh and shook her head. "Coast is clear. You can go now." She told him. He nods and grabbed a box. "What're you doing?"
"Helping out." JJ smiled. Brooke watched as he walked over to a shelf and began stocking it. She smiled to herself and walked over to the counter. The customer walked over to her.
Brooke gave the older man a sweet smile. "So, is this the best wax?" He asks. "My granddaughter is into surfing and I want to surprise her." He chuckles.
"So, really any wax is good for a surf board. I would recommend a tropical and warm wax for the board. The tropical is extra tough for tropical waters and the warm is hard wax good for warm waters." Brooke explained. "You have a cold wax, so let me show you where to find the two." She said.
JJ watched as she helped the man with admiration. Brooke waved as the elder man walked out. "Okay, boss. How much am I getting paid?" He asks, leaning against the counter.
Brooke hummed. She slid over another thing of wax and nods. "That's your money for the week." She tells him. JJ cheered and kissed her cheek.
"I'll see you later, Sunbaby!" He said, running out of the store. Brooke scrunched her nose at the nickname and smiled. The older man walked over to the cash register.
He glanced outside to see JJ skipping away. "He your boyfriend?" He asks. Brooke shook her head. "I see the way he looks at you, dear. I looked at my wife the same way." Brooke looked up at him as he walked away.
