THIRD POV
Hours passed as Althea laid in complete silence, her mind had been full of thoughts of what she would do in order to escape. She was anxious and more importantly, exhausted. And that never made anyone think clearly.
Her stomach pain increased ever since Stefan left that morning, and all she could do was wince in pain and clutch onto her stomach. Often rubbing it in order to soothe herself, but it didn't seem to work in the end. Her hunger was gnawing at her.
She was deep in thought about her plans when she got interrupted by the sound of the cell door screeching open. Stefan stepped into the room, this time his clothes were different. He wore a police commander's uniform, with a hat on. He looked clean and proper making her super confused.
Until an older looking man stepped out from behind him. He was dressed in an all white doctor's coat, grey hairs all slicked back. A lumpy leather bag gripped in between his clenched up hand. He looked nervous as he walked into the room, very nervous.
"Doctor Snow, this is prisoner 008, also known as Marianne. She is far into her pregnancy, incarcerated for crimes she committed. She refuses to eat anything we give her, and refuses to do anything to help herself or the babes. You have twenty minutes to give her a general checkup."
He nods as he takes in the room. To say it was plain shit was an understatement.
And more noticeably was just how cold the room felt. It was almost freezing in there, but that wasn't too hard to believe considering the weather outside. There was a cold storm at the moment, been going on for the past few days. Weather channel said a blizzard was soon to come, and he'd been taking up extra shifts incase he gets stuck at home.
His eyes wander over to the lump lying on the bed, only to find the pregnant prisoner General Forbes (Stefan - who lied about his name and status) had told him he would care for. He felt bad for her.
He gulps as he walks closer to the bed, he'd never been inside a prison like this before. And he'd never been alone in a room with a criminal.
But taking a closer look at the woman laying in that bed, he wasn't so sure she really even was a criminal. How could she be? So pale, frail and stomach so plump she'd look like she would pop any second if she even breathed wrong. But he couldn't deny how beautiful she was, even when looking malnourished.
"Hello, I'm Doctor Snow. I-I was called in to check your health. Are you able to sit up on your own or would you like some help", he asks. Althea, or rather Marianne — shook her head as tears welled up in her eyes. "I-I can't do it on my own", her voice shook as she spoke, lips quivering.
His eyes dropped as he was overcome by pity and sadness for the mother to be.
He placed his bag on the ground and hurried on over to her, grabbing her by the elbows as he helped her sit onto the bed, leaving the blanket to rest over her lap.
She winced as she finally sat at the edge of her bed. "Thank you", she says as she glances at him. Hoping that the sad, prisoner, hurting and pregnant girl act would work on him.
He nods as he goes into his bag and starts taking certain tools out. "I'm here to give you a general checkup, and that's what I'll do. For starters, are you feeling any specific symptoms? Anything out of normal, any concerns?", he asks.
