I had been at my aunts house for almost two weeks now and nothing that great had happened. So far I learned that Colton was my aunts ranch hand (who lived on the ranch with us by the way), and Phil was my aunts best friend, and Colton's dad. They were all really close I guess, and like always, I was the odd one left out. Aunt Clara had tried to make me feel included, but they had all known each other for ever, and it didn't help I was the youngest. Colton wasn't that much older than me, he was 18 and I was 16. I did start getting closer to aunt Clara though. I would help her with food sometimes, she was a great cook, and I wanted to be too. Back home my mom did all the cooking, but that's it. I would help with the diapers and the bottles and just about everything else around the house. After my dad died, my mom didn't do anything. She would walk around in her pajamas until 5 in the afternoon and it took a lot to get her to order a pizza. Tonight Phil was going out of town, so aunt Clara and I had prepared a special dinner. I was putting the rest of the food on the table when Colton walked in. He looked especially nice tonight, a black button down shirt, sleeves rolled up, plain jeans, cleaned black cowboy boots, a belt buckle, and of course, his favorite cowboy hat. I was wearing my favorite dress. I didn't really like dresses, I preferred jeans and a T-shirt, but I did love this dress. It was a light grey, fitted dress, with three quarter sleeves. I paired it with my white converse, my small diamond earrings, and slightly curled my long, naturally straight hair.
After dinner we all went outside for a walk, something that had become a ritual for us every night. We walked longer than normal tonight, then all of a sudden aunt Clara and Phil had walked somewhere else, and I was left alone with Colton...
