Chapter 3:
A Demon
"Good morning, Miss Tavarious."
It was a greeting from a woman a little older than me. I took that as a cue para pumasok sa classroom.
It's the second day of school. My things were already moved by some helpers to the dorm that I will be living in for the whole time na nag-aaral ako.
Nakakahiya nga lang maging center of attention dahil mukhang ako lang yata ang late nang nakapasok.
She's that girl ,right?
She is!
The thoughts are here again. It's surprising na hindi na sumasakit ang ulo ko kapag naririnig iyon. It became normal.
"You can take your seat at the back," turo ng babae which I followed.
The seat was next to a girl na natutulog. She seemed like she's in a deep sleep, maybe even dreaming.
"Miss Giarra?" the teacher called which made the girl sit straight.
Her hair was a bit messy and probably doesn't even know what's going on. Cute.
Napatingin siya sa akin kaya napaayos siya ng itsura siya. I just smiled at her habang nakatingin siya sa compact mirror niya.
"Hi," bati niya nang matapos siya
"Hi," I greeted back.
It felt awkward for me. Hindi kasi ako marunong makipag-socialize. I don't approach people unless they approach me first. I'm scared of being ignored.
"You're the one na nahimatay di ba?" tanong niya which surprised me.
Straightforward pala siya.
Nginitian ko siya saka tumango. "I lost some energy daw."
She slightly tilted her head, pouted and looked above. Napatingin din tuloy ako pero wala naman naroon kaya ibinalik ko na lang ang tingin ko sa kanya.
"'Di ba, nawawala lang ang energy if you're using your strength or Kimia,"curious na tanong niya ulit.
That was true. Kimia is a magical power that comes from our immortal core. It is a special ability of special immortals who are given the privilege of studying at the Imperial Academy. However, these are only from the books I've read while recuperating. My knowledge about it is still limited.
I tried remembering what happened before.
"But I wasn't using any form of Kimia that time," I said with so much assurance while slowly shaking my head.
"I'm not even sure if I have one," bulong ko pa.
You're too loud, Moke.
Napatingin ako sa kung saan. I'm pretty sure I just heard Gavi's voice. Second name basis yata eh.
I scanned the whole room and found him sitting at the corner, looking at me while his face was resting on his arms that were on the table.
Tinaasan niya ako ng kilay kaya inirapan ko na lang siya.
Then don't listen. I replied.
"San ka nakatingin?" curious na tanong ni Giarra.
She followed my eyes and her expression quickly changed from a lively aura to a serious one. She showed me a nervous smile when she returned her gaze to me.
"What’s wrong with your expression?"
She shook her head.
"Nerbyos lang," sagot niya.
