012, rare books?

LUNA WAS EXHAUSTED at the library the next day. her head was down on the table waiting for detention to start. her backpack was on her lap as she played with the keychains on it. her phone was confiscated and she was basically forced to do homework during detention.

"tired?" a familiar voice said and luna nodded.

"we're stuck in here for who knows how long with just books." luna said lifting her head off the table. minho groaned, "i know. who has even touched these books in the last 10 years? everything is online now."

"attention students!" mr. lee's voice projected throughout the library making luna roll her eyes. "your precious digital appendages will be returned when detention is over. eight hours from now." he said making the students groan.

"why can't he just say phones? it's like he's trying to fill a word count for every sentence he speaks." luna said to minho making him chuckle.

"and you have your friend, ms. song covey to thank for that." the professor said as kitty walked into the library, "that's right. she was kind enough to alert me to last night shenanigans."

"it was you?" minho asked in disbelief.

"this could be fun, though. like the breakfast club, right?" she chuckled.

it was not like the breakfast club at all. for the past hour luna had been scribbling on her notebook. she looked over at professor lee who was enjoying a book. there was no way he wanted to be there.

from the corner of her eye, luna saw a paper slide to her from minho. a small grin appeared on her face as she turned to him. she looked back to the table and opened the paper.

'date 2 night? circle one
yes or no'

the girl slightly covered her answer and slid it back to him. the boy looked down at the answer and rolled his eyes playfully as he wrote something down.

'or isn't an answer'

the girl chuckled and wrote on the paper again. she folded it up and slid it back to minho. the boy opened it and smiled at the actual answer she wrote.

'yes. pick me up at 6.'

"attention students. apparently, i am needed in the gymnasium briefly. madison miller, you've proven yourself trustworthy. you are in charge while i'm gone. please make sure everyone is quietly studying." he said before he got up and started to leave.

"yes sir. you heard him. eyes down." the girl said standing up.

when the professor walked out, her seriously demeanor changed, "kidding, do whatever. but be careful, if you're gonna vape, crack a window. you, keep watch by the door and warn us when lee's coming back. what? haven't any of you gotten stuck in saturday detention and kept the party going when your teacher leaves the room?"

everyone was silent.

madison gasped, "oh y'all are so cute. okay, poker game will start in the world history section, make-outs move in back by the rare books. i like an organized chaos. go!" she shouted.

minho slowly turned to luna, "so uh—rare books?" he asked.

"you're gonna kiss me before the first date?" luna asked tilting her head slightly.

"oh i—"

"come on, let's go." luna said getting up from her seat and holding her hand out for minho. minho took her hand in confusion, "rare books?" he asked confused.

"no, silly. world history. poker, let's go." she laughed pulling him up and talking him along with her.

"he's coming!" a student shouted, running back to his seat. minho and luna had been watching the poker game go on for the past ten minutes. "oh! assume your positions!" madioson shouted. minho and luna immediately went back to their table.

professor lee can back in scanning the area, "thank you miss miller. it looks like you kept everything under control." he said and madison nodded, "it was my pleasure." she replied.

"lunch time. write down your orders. get them back to me as quickly as possible. feel free to stretch your legs, your arms, whatever needs stretching. we have one hour and one hour only." professor lee said.

minho and luna immediately headed to dae, "what do you wanna eat?" minho asked in korean. dae sighed, "i don't know. how can i think about food right now? i'm going crazy worrying about what yuri and kitty are up to."

"whatever it is it's not your business. kitty wants to know about her mom. she didn't just come here to stalk you." minho said as luna grabbed the menu next to dae. her eyes scanned over the food options.

"you're right. i'll guess i just order their lunch." dae said sitting up straight in his chair.

"what do you want to order for them?" luna asked.

"just get whatever you're getting, i'm sure they'll be okay with it," dae responded. luna nodded writing down order for the two girls before handing over the order form to dae.

"students, roll call before lunch." professor lee said. panic went through the three of them. kitty and yuri were still not back to wherever they had gone off to. "hey, they're not here yet. he's gonna catch them." dae whispered to q and florian, who was on the table next to them.

"i got this." florian said getting up and walking to professor lee. he started to talk to lee about the book he was reading. luna had no idea what they were saying, but it was definitely working. he went to go get a book for florian and put madison in charge again.

after a couple minutes, minho and luna returned to their seats right when professor lee came back. kitty and yuri we still of there. "where are they?" luna whispered looking around and minho shrugged.

"student roll call!"

they spotted yuri and kitty were behind a bookshelf and madison's hand shot up. "professor lee! i have an emergency. it's personal!" she said as he walked over to her, allowing kitty and yuri to slip in just on time.
