I stare my father down, heart pounding, holding up my certificate. I graduated from Cambridge University with a First in English Literature. But I lost contact with everybody from Karasuno, even Sugar-chan. And now I'm moving back. I've saved all of my money over the last three years so I could do this.
"You're planning on wasting all of your education, to go to JAPAN?" I nod firmly. I'm done with this. I'm done with being rich, being their kid having to do everything they want. I don't deserve this, as bratty as it sounds, its true.
"What about MARRIAGE!" My mum is horrified. Of course, she's more concerned about my comfort, my companionship.
"Never found anybody." I shrug.
"I'm not letting you leave." My dad grabs my arm.
"I'm twenty one years old. I think you'll find that I can do what I bloody want." I state, jerking my hand out of his grip and pulling my case to the door.
"I'm making my way. Thanks for everything." I put my thumb up. Of course they know I'll live in our investment. And as angry as they are, they are not going to follow me.
"ASHA!" My mum wails.
"ASHA! GET BACK HERE!" My father is far more aggressive.
I stop dead in my tracks and push up my Primark reading glasses. Heart racing. I take a deep breath, hand on the door, ready to slam it and head out into the rain, hop on a plane and return to the house in Japan.
"Am I more than you bargained for yet?" I ask and slam the door. The taxi is outside. Without batting a lid, I let the cab drive off. Next stop, Gatwick.
