Chapter 13: New Faces II
An empty room with nothing but the back of a leather chair facing me. The room was much luxurious inside. With a clear view of other skyscrapers that didn't grace the streets of France. I saw the blue sky and I saw small clots of clouds. I walked towards the window that displayed vast green grass. A whole field, with a hill top and everything. I smiled at the young children that ran around enjoying life, and knew no harm. A girl, running away from who I guessed was her brother.
As they say, ignorance is bliss.
"It's a beaut-
"Ahhh!" I screamed to the top of my lungs, clenching my chest. When the hell did he get here?!
"Sorry I didn't mean to startle you. An impressive set of lungs you got there."
A man wearing a black, but not fully black, maybe even navy, pinstripe suit and a teal tie stood behind me.
Oddly enough he was wearing sunglasses, what a weirdo.
"When in the hell did you get in here?"
I know I'm probably overreacting, but who cares. I'm 19 I can still do that.
"Judging by the fact that this is my office, I presume it would be more appropriate for me to ask you the same thing."
My once open mouth shut completely. But he- I- hey!
I felt my cheeks burned in embarrassment.
"Why are you wearing glasses indoors? Kind of obnoxious don't you think?" Especially if you work in an office.
The side of the black glasses shined FENDI in gold.
"How can you even see in those things the lights are all off?" I added with a chuckle.
I got closer to his eyes but saw nothing but my own reflection.
"No I can't see in them," He muttered.
He started to look uncomfortable which I don't really get because I'd expect fancy businessmen to be confident. Not let a 19 year old make you look all nervous and insecure.
"So why don't you just take them off?" I ask confused.
Was this man a little off his head?
His desk seemed organized and he was working in an office, so he couldn't possibly be a lunatic.
"Because even without them, I can't see," He smiled crookedly at me and I suddenly wish he didn't have his glasses on so I could see his eyes.
"I'm blind." He explained.
Oh God I'm a horrible bitch! This
is so embarrassing.
"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. I didn't know- I should've thoug-
"It's Okay. You didn't know, don't worry about it."
He shook his head in understanding. He probably got this all the time.
"No! I should worry! Who am I to come in your office and interrogate you like that?" I paced around his room in frustration to hide my shame and guilt.
"No really it's fine, you were kinda hot interrogating me 'like that', so I don't mind."
My pacing came to a halt, as I blushed and widened my eyes in surprise. Wait but?
"How do you know if I'm hot?" I asked.
"You don't need eyes to see a person's beauty. That's overrated and frankly judgemental."
