"Unless you want me to eat you?"

Hazel gave her a strange look.

Eat me?!

There was only one thing he could think at the moment

And that was

"A-Are you a cannibal?" He stumbled and was prepared to flee at any time.

His words instantly erased the smirk from her face, and she looked at him distastefully.

"What?" She expressed her offense by questioning

"Cannibal...you know who eats hu-

"I know what a cannibal means you idiot!" She exclaimed as he shrank back against the wall.

"When I said that should I eat you, I did not mean it literally...oh my god, where am I stuck?" The criminal face palmed and slumped against the couch

And with that, she gave him a fierce look.

"Go and bring me food!" She yelled to which he flinched and ran inside the kitchen

Rolling her eyes at the scene, she observed him dash inside.

She muttered, "Gosh, what a nerd," as she settled back on the couch to await the supper.

Half an hour later

The sound of the doorbell reached her when she was dozing off on the couch.

She stood up and headed for the kitchen, unwilling to take any chances.

When she noticed that he was cooking food for her, she rolled her eyes.

"Hey, there's someone at the door" she mumbled, leaning against the doorway

He lifted his head from whatever he was doing and gave a quiet nod.

Taking off his apron and using tissue paper to wipe his hands, he made his way to the door in the hopes that someone would be there to assist him in escaping the menace inside his home.

When he got to the door, he heard another doorbell. Taking a deep breath as he felt her gaze staring holes in his head, he answered the door.

When he saw who was standing at his door, his eyes brightened.

"O-officer? Is there anything I can help you with?" Hazel enquired, his insides begging for assistance to get away from the threat behind him

"We apologize for disturbing your peace, but we need to ask you something," the cop continued, burrowing his hands into his pocket.

When Hazel glanced over his shoulder, he noticed her lurking in the kitchen. She sneered at him and threatened to kill him if he even attempted to inform the police about her

He turned his head to stare at the officer who dug out a picture from his pocket

He reached out and held the photo out to Hazel so he could look at it.

"Try to recall if you have seen her by looking at the photo."

Examining the photo, Hazel realized that it was without a doubt the same woman hiding in his kitchen at that same moment.

However, the issue was that he was not sure if he should tell the officer who was waiting for his response.

What if he notified the police about her and she takes him hostage? All the scenarios began to play tricks on his mind. Or even worse, murder him to get away?

Though Hazel forced the lump down his throat, what would happen if he kept it to himself? Would she let him off? Observing him at this moment, she has not done anything to hurt him.

Maybe if he keeps her hidden-

"Mister" Hazel was pulled back from his thoughts by the cop's gruff voice

"Please let me know if something is wrong; if not, may I proceed to ask someone else?" The policeman said, subtly implying that Hazel should not waste his time if nothing crucial needed to be done.

Hazel was at a loss for words because he could feel the death look coming from behind him and his condition up front was not great either.

He swallowed.

"Have you seen her mister?" The cop inquired one last time as he stared at Hazel to speak something

Though, let us imagine, Hazel did not give her away right away and she opted to spare him for the time being, what if she grew tired of him and decided to get rid of him? Hazel was troubled and he basically could not trust a criminal.

The possibilities were endless

But neither landed in Hazel's favor

In any case, he believed that it was death for him.

So why not just delay it?

Maybe luck would be on his side for once and he would actually be spared from the threat inside his house.

Thus, for the one time in his life

He sought solace in his good fortune and acted as he felt was appropriate at the time.

"Mister? I won't ask anymore, have you seen her?" The officer questioned, looking like he was annoyed with the individual in front of him for wasting his valuable time.

However, Hazel responded this time.

"Yes"

This couldn't be the worst decision he could ever take

Right?
