Not long after, the opening game of the season was officially over. I could barely hear anything or even see the open green field due to the noise in the stadium. It was sort of overwhelming, but only because it was my first time in such a large venue and that was the nature and culture shock of being from a small town.

The USC Lions had won. I could make out the outline of Bash's jersey as he and his teammates shared hugs in celebration. Beside me sat Lizzie, who had spent the entire match sulking next to us while chewing on popcorn. I hadn't known what to say or how to act.

All my life I'd hoped for friends like Halle and Lizzie. Now that I finally had them, there was no way I was going to lose them. It had been hard to act like nothing had transpired between Lizzie and I and I had to admit I wasn't in the best mood either when we got here, fresh off the mini altercation that happened back in the room; but seeing Bash changed all that in seconds.

He was right. I instantly saw the love Bash had for football. I saw it in the way he played out on the field today, the way his eyes lit up immediately he came out to the arena. I was happy for him, happy that he had something special that he could consistently fall back on.

Before the game started he'd said he would come find me after the match was over. But now the match was over and I suddenly found myself not knowing what to do. Most of the audience were already up and out of their seats as soon as the last buzzer rang. Should we start heading out too?

No, Bash wanted to meet up after.

Halle turns to me, her eyes wide with excitement. "Such a good way to start off the season!"

I nod agreeing with her, my eyes still silently searching for Bash in the crowded arena. I take it Lizzie was still trying to keep to herself but it was a time like this where I would've asked them both what to do, but I couldn't do that now. Should I wait for him to come to me? Should I go to him instead? But that would be stupid right, there are so many reporters out there.... Should I stay somewhere open so he could find me easily?

I felt my anxiety slowly spiralling as my thoughts jumped from one to another only doing more to put me in a negative headspace. I could feel Halles eyes on me, feeling her palm graze mine shortly after.

"Hey, you doing okay?"

I nod, my eyes still darting around the arena. In some ways that gave me comfort. "Yeah... of course why?"z

"Nothing it's just you're really fidgety all of a sudden."

Finally, my gaze settles on her, still unsure. "Oh... sorry I just thought I saw someone."

Halle gives me a weird look, hooking her bag between her shoulders. "Okay, let's head out then guys I do not want to see the smug look on Lucas' face. Did you know he had the audacity to text me just before the game started saying I owed him a date if they won tonight?!"
