Kai's POV

Sure, Kai felt happy when Jay asked Nya to be his Yang. Kai had helped Jay gather his courage. But now, he was struggling to find his own courage to ask Skylor to be his Yang. And he was also struggling to learn how to rely on his friends to help him. He knew Jay would help him in return, but Kai was always so confident all the time. It'd be strange if he asked for help.
But he didn't really have a choice. So he gathered up his confidence and headed to the gaming room, where Jay and Cole were playing video games. Lloyd was sitting next to them, cheering them on.
Kai politely waited for them to finish their game, when finally Jay noticed Kai staring at him. "Uh, hey Kai! What's up?"
"Nothing. But I need your help on something," Kai gulped. Jay raised an eyebrow suspiciously but nodded anyway. He gave the controller to Lloyd, who eagerly snatched it. Kai led Jay into another room.
"What do you need?" Jay asked him. Kai fidgeted with his fingers, pacing back and forth.
"I need to gather up my courage so I can ask Skylor to be my Yang."
Jay's jaw fell. He quickly cleared his throat. "And you want me to help you?" Kai nodded desperately. Jay sighed, running a hand through his messy brown hair.
"Kai, you were the one who helped me-" Jay started, but Kai held his hand out.
"I know, I know. But now I can't find my own courage, and I need you to help me."
Jay sighed again. "Okay, why not?" Kai smiled and hugged him.
"Thanks!" He squealed. Jay laughed and patted his back.
"Okay, so as you told me, you need to believe in yourself. Believe that Skylor really loves you. Like she knows you're going to ask her, and she's excited. Stand up tall and straight. Let her know you're confident. If you stammer, she might think you're nervous, but she needs to know you're sure!"
Kai stood up tall, and put on his most confident smile. Jay smiled. "Exactly. But you need to feel confident on both the inside and the outside. Don't be cocky. Just believe. Now, try it on me."
Kai took out the medallion and got down on one knee, clearing his throat. "Skylor, you are the most gorgeous person I have ever met. Your smile is what kept me going all this time, on all of our adventures, when we were apart or together. I have realized long ago, that you are the one for me," Kai divided the medallion into two, holding out one half to Jay. "Will you be my Yang?"
"Perfect! You're a natural!" Jay beamed. "You're ready. When are you planning on asking her?"
Dareth decided to stride in at that very moment. "Ask who what?" He asked, confused.
"Kai's gonna ask Skylor to be his Yang!" Jay explained. Kai shot a glare at him, but Jay just looked amused. Dareth clapped his hands excitedly.
"Ooh! I'm gonna be apart of this one too, right?" He asked, jumping up and down. Kai and Jay looked at him weirdly. For a man around thirty years old, Dareth could be really immature.
Jay glanced at Kai. "Uh, sure, why not?" Kai shrugged.
"I mean, you didn't really do anything last time, except help me sell the lie that I wanted to ask Nya about her, uh, kimono... I think," Jay pointed out. Dareth nodded slowly.
"Yeah! I missed the Yang proposal, since that was when the Oni attacked. I was inside with Misako. But this time I'll be there!"
Kai forced a fake smile. Was he really going to let Dareth in on this? He glanced over at Jay, noticing that he didn't seem to mind, and was actually enjoying the sight of Dareth jumping up and down with excitement.
"Okay then. To answer your question, Jay, I'm waiting for the right time."
Jay grinned. "Hey! That's what I said!"
Kai smiled back. A real genuine smile. He nudged Jay's side. "I mean, we are in pretty similar situations, after all. Except for the creepy Oni."
"We'll get back to this later, Kai. Dareth, wanna play some video games with us? I'm sure Lloyd and Cole are done with their game by now," Jay suggested.
Dareth grinned widely from ear to ear. "Heck yeah!"
