....Third P.O.V.
"I can see why she takes interest in them."
Link turned his gaze upward toward the (h/c) haired princess. The two were perched carefully on the castle wall, his head resting in her lap, her hands tangled in his hair. His gear neatly laid to the side.
"I mean," she sighed, "Father says the guardians are a waste of time, Zelda thinks they aren't, and I'm...I'm not sure how I feel about them." The knight sat up and followed her gaze to the researchers on the fields attempting to guide one of the guardians over to a step stool. "What do you think?"
Link lifted an eyebrow.
"What do you think about the guardians? Are they a waste of time? Are they worth worrying about?" (Y/n) asked without looking at him.
He stayed silent.
Of course, it's not his place to answer, (Y/n) thought, cupping her cheek with her hand.
"Neverm-" She cut herself off when she heard Link sigh.
He opened his mouth to speak when chaos broke out in the distance. One of the guardians went rogue and began destroying all the props. (Y/n) jumped up and rushed across the pathway, hurrying to the stairs with Link close on her tail. She was honestly glad she went horse riding just before this for running in a long, silky dress wasn't her type of easy. As they got closer they could see the guardian trapping a young scientist in between two immobile ones. (Y/n) sprinted even faster, but not being as good in shape as Link he quickly over took her. He raced toward the defenseless woman, while you sprinted behind the guardian. He saw you running up behind him and quickly signaled you off, trying to get you out of harm's way, but you were never one to listen.
You planted your feet in the ground about 12 feet away from the rogue guardian. "HEY!"
Its mechanical head slowly turns around to meet your (e/c) eyes. Sparks flickered from its red eye.
Hopefully this works, (Y/n) thought, before raising her hand.
"No!"
It twitched.
"Back away!" The (h/c) haired princess commanded. "I order you to turn away!"
It twitched again, and it very slowly backed away, taking its sweet time to raise and plant its legs. Soon it was a safe distance away, Link quickly carried the injured scientist back toward the others.
(Y/n) let out a relieved gasp and hunched over, her hands placed on her knees to keep herself steady. She couldn't believe it worked. She had been studying with Zelda about the guardians ever since they were discovered. During one of her sessions with an inactive one she had managed to lift an arm, but just barely and only for a couple of seconds. She had never tried it on an active one before. It definitely wore her out.
"Link-! Don't do that!" She cried out as the man in question tapped her shoulder. She huffed while Link sent her a goofy smile, like he was saying 'my-bad-I-didn't-mean-too-but-you-don't-care-anyway'. The princess rolled her eyes at him, before stopping.
Something was off. She quickly turned around to be faced with the same guardian she had just told off. Its red laser directly focused on her. She screamed and Link hurriedly stepped in front of her, his shield out and ready for the blow. He quickly parried the blast, grunting from the effort of shielding a blast so close. Link took a step back from the force keeping his stance and watched as the guardian began to glitch out from its own attack. Only after the machine powered off did he relax and loll his head. Small arms quickly wrapped around his waist and he glanced back to see your head tucked into his back. He could feel you shaking slightly so he turned around to fully embrace you. Link leaned his head against her neck, allowing her the privacy to get ahold of herself but also not leaving her arms.
