AT RATHORE'S MANSION
"When are you returning to the UK, sir?" my manager asked over the phone.
"I'm not sure yet" I replied in usual tone while taking a sip of my coffee. Proceeded convo by asking, "What's the update on Mr. Moshiri's project?"
She responded, "They seem dissatisfied with our proposal."
I gazed out the window of my room, took another sip and said, "We can't let them go that easily. Send me every detail of their requirements immediately!"
"okey sir, but we don't have much time " I placed my coffee on the table, opened my laptop and began checking emails.
"Do as I say and keep me updated," I instructed before hanging up. Just before we ended the call, she added.
"Enjoy your time with your family, sir."
I was unsure when I would return, but the real question was, why was I back here? Was it just Maa's persuasion or was there something more? The truth eluded me.
But a lot has changed here, it was not at all the way I left it. Rakshita, whom I last saw as a 3-year-old, is now on the cusp of turning 22. And I was only 7 yo old kid when I went uk. Didn't realize how much time had passed? Really, time moves at its own pace.
Yet the reason for my departure remains unchanged. The pain still lingers, a constant ache that time hadn't alleviated. Despite my efforts to forget, memories of her persist.
Flashbacks flood my mind, blurring my vision. As tears threaten to surface, a gentle voice interrupts my reverie, coming from the entrance of my room. I forced a deep breath, blink away the haze.
"kuwar sa, sab apko khaane pe bula rhe hai." Uday Kaka said, his voice breaking into my reverie.(everyone is inviting you for dinner.)
Noticing the darkness that had fallen,I turned my heels clicking on the floor and quickened my pace towards my wardrobe.
"coming , in just 5 min" I called out, my hands already rummaging through my clothes. Kaka bowed his head slightly before exiting, as I nodded in acknowledgment.

At Dinning table
The dining table was shrouded in silence until Rakshita broke the stillness, her voice ringing out as she addressed everyone, "Why didn't anyone tell me earlier that bhai was coming?!" I took a bite of my meal, observing the sudden spark in the conversation.
