**************

This was silly; you were a grown-ass-woman in living in the middle of the end of the world and yet acting like a teenage girl still in the early 2000's. You liked Joel Miller; you liked him a lot and from what Tommy recently confined to you; he like you too. So why were you being that teenage girl; afraid to let the man you had a crush know about it?

Maybe, because despite the numerous hints you were sending his way, he wasn't taking them.

"The two of ya are really pathic..." Tommy shakes his head, sighing while watching Joel, walk off to the restroom.

"'Scuse me...?" you shoot him an arched brow.

"Told him, ya like him. Told ya, he likes ya... yet y'all still beatin' round the bush!" Tommy throws his hands up in disbelief.

You stare bug-eyed at his words, "ya told him I liked him?!"

Tommy physically cringes, "yeah, it was beingin' to get too painful, watchin' him stare at ya with those googly eyes whenever ya runnin' round the bar."

"Ya told him l like him..." you mutter almost dazed-like, snapping eagerly out of it then. "What did he say?"

"Nuh-uh... no thank ya, Ma'am..." Tommy adamantly shakes his head, "his gonna kick my ass if he finds out I told ya anythin'"

"Oh, c'mon, Tommy... don't be like that. Just give me somethin' to work?" you desperately plead with him

Tommy silently glares at you for a minute, his head dropping with a defeated sigh. "Fine. But if this comes back to me, I'm comin' after ya" he warns you.

"Promise, it won't" you eagerly nod in agreement.

"He thinks ya wouldn't be interested in a man as old and worn out as him, and that he ain't good for ya."

"Why the fuck would he think that...?" you croak out in shock. "He's so handsome... no scratch that, he's hot. I mean, have ya seen how broad he is...? And gosh, those hands of his... I just wanna-"

"Yeah, I don't wanna hear of how ya wanna jump my big brother's bones..." Tommy cuts you off, gagging.

"Oh, hush you" you lightly slap him against the chest.

"Ouch!" Tommy cries out, frowning at you as he rubs the spot. His face suddenly turns serious then, "he's comin' back."

*

You were pondering over Tommy's words through the rest of the evening as you worked; did Joel really think so little of himself? That just wouldn't do. You would be grateful to have a man as Joel as your own, and tonight you were going to make that perfectly clear to him.

The last customer had been let out and Joel, as usual was helping Tommy and you clean up. Once finished, Joel and you stood outside to the side as Tommy locked up.

"Sure gettin' dark eariler these day's..." Tommy remarks, staring up at the sky, shooting you a side eye signal.

"Yeah, kinda creepy" you comment, having caught it before Joel could.

"Joel, ya mind walkin' Y/N home?" Tommy requests.

"Um, not at all..." Joel responds, nervously scratching the back of his head. Clearing his throat then, he turns toward you, "c'mon, Sweetheart... let's get ya home."
