JORDAN WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET A MORNING WORKOUT IN before the craziness and unpredictable nature of working at the fire department kicked in, just a quick one to prime his muscles for the day's work and prevent any injuries. He finishes off his set of warm-up stretches and moves to the free weights that sit directly in front of a wall that's just one big mirror backlit with bright lights. Their in-house gym was below the second floor's landing tucked at the back of the engine bay.

It had everything you could want including a couple treadmills, an exercise bike, rower, stairmaster, and heavy weight and squatting rack. The free weights included kettlebells and dumbbells alike. Hell, there were even yoga mats hanging along the far wall although Jordan seemed to still be the only one who did yoga in their entire station. He'd never seen anyone else even touch those mats.

But he knows yoga is good for all-around fitness and incorporates it into his routine regularly. Yoga a few times a week found Jordan making more progress in his fitness goals than ever.

He starts with a full body kettlebell circuit, the first circuit of three he'd be doing this morning. The pleasurable burn with every finished set makes him happy, satisfied. Knowing the human body, Jordan was aware that physical exercise makes the body produce and release hormones like endorphins, adrenaline, testosterone and even cortisol and leptin. Endorphins are what's making him so happy right now, and chasing that rush for the release of endorphins has become an addictive habit for Jordan.

When he'd gotten released from the hospital, Dr. Ruiz had encouraged Jordan to exercise at least three to four times a week to benefit his mental health as much as his physical health. Jordan sticks to this advice even now. He has come to love going to the gym. It makes him happier, he performs better with staying focused on tasks at-hand and, ever since he'd started seriously working out, his body was beginning to fill out with more muscles that he'd never even realized he possessed.

Jordan's just finishing his first kettlebell circuit when he can't help the smile that breaks across his face. Ever since everything had happened, the endorphin release he experienced was somehow magnified.

Maybe it was the fact that he'd cheated death that night of the explosion?

Or, he supposed, maybe he was superhuman now.

The very thought made Jordan laugh out loud. He's chuckling when Denise happens to be walking by and she gives him a look that suggests he might be crazy.
