Today started out just like any other day. I tended my herb garden and read my favorite book, while I sipped on my tea. Life has been rough since my parents died, they had left me the family cabin in the woods and I was glad to be away from the city, and just enjoy the peaceful silence of nature. It helped me relax and take my mind off missing them, but only for a little while. They died in a house fire and their bodies were never found. It's been 5 months since they have passed. Thankfully I have my best friend Rayna Wilson, she has helped cheer me up as much as she possibly can. She is going to come over today, after she is done running her errands. We've been friends since middle school and haven't left each other's side since.

I hear a knock on the door and head over to open it " Hey Athena!" I'm greeted by Rayna, who's holding some McDonald's and her bag in her other hand. Her blonde hair is neatly pulled back into a ponytail and she's wearing her work out outfit, even though she doesn't exercise. "Hey". I move to the side and invite her in. She goes to the kitchen table and places the bag of food down with her bag. " I got us some food. Did you eat anything yet?" I haven't had the biggest appetite since my parents passing, so she's been bringing me food whenever she comes over. "No, I was going to make a sandwich later on. But now I won't have to" I laugh as I say this, so she doesn't worry too much about me not eating yet. "Mmm" She hums, and goes to sit down and I follow to do the same. McDonald's isn't my first choice of food I'd want to eat, but Rayna doesn't cook. So she usually brings me fast food. While eating we talk about our day, and everything that we have been up to. Rayna is engaged to a guy named Logan Thomas, I've met him a couple times, and he seems like the prefect guy for her. I do envy that she has been able to find her soulmate at our age of 25. I hope one day I'll be able to find a love like hers. I doubt it'll happen since I hardly leave my house or even talk to guys. But who knows, maybe he'll just come to me. "Did you wanna go on a walk?" I ask, after we've finished our food. I have to burn all the calories I've just consumed. She nods her head and we go off into the woods. I find it so peaceful going on walks in the woods, it really helps clear my head. " So, Logan wants a beach wedding, but I was thinking more of a barn wedding. What do you think?". I'd prefer to have a forest wedding with fairy lights hanging from the trees. I think that would look so magical. " I'd go with the barn too. You could make it really cute." She goes on telling me more about her wedding plans with Logan and I just listen and give her feedback. She's so excited about her upcoming wedding, I am as well. I'm going to be her maid of honor, which is super nice of her. I was expecting she'd ask her mom since they are close. After an hour of walking we part ways and I wave her off as she gets into her Jeep. By now the time is 4pm and I'm alone with myself again. My cat, Luka rubs against my leg as I stand in my bedroom to change into my pajamas. "I love you so much" I say, in a baby voice. I bend down to pick him up and give him some cuddles before I get comfortable.

It's around 7pm when I hear a creak that sounded like it came from outside my front door, I go to look out the window and I see a fox standing outside, just staring at me. Its eyes shined in the moonlight, and it felt like it was looking into my soul. I gasp and closed the blinds and made sure my door was locked. I don't know what was wrong with that fox, but I couldn't help but feel uneasy by its presence. I stare at the door for a moment, then turn to go back into the living room, where I had a fire going. I curl back up on the couch and try to calm myself down. I'm sure I am just overthinking and the fox wasn't actually looking at me. I pick up my book I was reading and try to get lost in the story, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something evil was outside my house. After 30 minutes of trying to read, I decide I'm going to get ready to head upstairs. I put out the fire and turn off all the lights expect a small lamp at on a table beside the stairs. I stop at the front door and decide to look out the window to see if the fox was still around. I look around and don't see anything, until I see a dark figure lurking in-between some trees. I jump back as soon as I notice the figure. With a shaky hand I pull the blind away from the window and look again, but there was no figure there. I sigh and head upstairs. I must be going crazy, it's most likely from me just being paranoid. Luka jumps on the bed with me and cuddles up by my feet. " Goodnight, Luka" I say, as I give him some pets. I lay back and get comfortable, while staring at the ceiling, I think back to the tall dark figure I saw. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, and there won't be anything weird that will happen.
