Silvershine's Destiny

Chapter 6

Ripplefrost came hurrying our of the warriors den. "Are you hurt?"

"No." said Silverpaw, "Blossomtail told me to come back to fetch help."

"I'm go." said Ripplefrost.

"I'll come too." volunteered Dapplewish.

"Me too!" said Frostfeather.

"I'll also go, if any of the cats are badly injured I can treat them." said Lilypool. "Bring a few more warriors, Blizzardclaw and Shadowstream should go too."

"Is it safe to leave the camp undefended?" asked Dapplewish.

"Pretty much all of Ivyclan is there." said Silverpaw.

"All right." said Lilypool, "Are you ready to go back into the battle?"

Silverpaw nodded.

Lilypool grabbed a bundle of herbs and headed out of camp.

The battle was still raging on but Silverpaw could see that the Hollyclan cats were badly outnumbered.

Silverpaw leaped down the series of ledges down to the bottom.

She saw Snowpaw fighting with a Ivyclan warrior. Silverpaw pushed through the crowd to help her but she was blocked by Dapplepaw, a Ivyclan apprentice.

Dapplepaw snarled at Silverpaw and lunged for her. Silverpaw went limp. She felt Dapplepaw stumble with her sudden weight. Silverpaw wriggled free and slashed her shoulder. Dapplepaw jumped away then leaped for Silverpaw again. Silverpaw dodged around her and raked her pelt. Dapplepaw growled furiously and slammed Silverpaw into the ground. Silverpaw lashed out and slashed Dapplepaw's eye. Dapplepaw shrieked and staggered away into the crowd.

Silverpaw glimpsed Ripplefrost facing off Nightstar. 

"Why don't you just give up?" hissed Nightstar.

"Because I would rather die!"

Nightstar smiled, "Very well." He pinnned Ripplefrost down to the ground.

"No!" 

Nightstar met Silverpaw's gaze and snapped Ripplefrost's neck.

Silverpaw lunged for Nightstar but a blurr of gray fur knock her out of the way. Silverpaw looked up in time to see Frostfeather neatly slit Nightstar's throat.

The fighting slowly came to a stop and both clans crowded around the 2 dead bodies on the ground.

Lilypool rested her paw on Ripplefrost's chest. "She's dead."

Nightstar stirred feebly. He glared at Hollystar, "You might have won this time! But I've kill one of your warriors too. Let her spirit be the constant reminder that we're not the only clan that has suffered from this battle. This isn't over!"

"Please don't be dead." she whispered touching her nose to Ripplefrost's unmoving form.

"Come on." said Frostfeather, "Let's get back to camp."

I'll serve my clan the best I can, and one day I'll see her again.

Silverpaw padded into the apprentices den. She curled up in her nest and instantly fell asleep.

Silverpaw was walking thorught a sunlit forest. "Silverpaw.." 

"Who's there?" she called.

A calico she-cat with blue eyes appeared in front of her. Silverpaw noticed that there was stars in her pelt.

"Are you from Starclan?"

"Yes, my name is Embermist. I used to be the medicine cat of Hollyclan, in fact I was Hollystar's daughter."

"So is this a dream?"

"Of course it is, listen Silverpaw, you are destined to be more than a warrior, I had a vision when I was alive, Starclan told me that a silver cat would save the clan. I told no other cat except for Hollystar. I was killed by a fox a few days later so and I suspected a cat lured me there, I found Ivyclan scent in our territory, I followed it and it lead straight to a fox."

"And you think I'm the silver cat."

"Yes."

"Plenty of cats are silver." protested Silverpaw, "How do you know it refers to me, Frostfeather is silver, well, she's actually silver and white but she's killed Nightstar before!"

"I think Ripplefrost knew about the my vision, I found her hiding in a bush after I told Hollystar, Ripplefrost told me she had gotten stuck but I think she was listening." sighed Embermist. "I suspect that's why she named you Silverkit."

"Is this real?" asked Silverpaw, "Or is this all in my head."

Embermist purred in amusement, "Of course this has all been happening in your head, but why in the name of Starclan does that mean its not real?"
